1 Chronicles 20: 6. And again there was war at Gath, where there was a very tall man, who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on his hands and six toes on his feet; he was one of the offspring of the Rephaim.

1 Chronicles 19:17 (KJV)

And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
1 Chronicles 19:18 (KJV)

What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.

The above verses (1 Chronicles 17:17-18) Should be......

1 Chronicles 19:17-18
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him. 18But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.

1 Chronicles 21:4 (KJV)
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

Sorry about that I switched from NIV to KJV and I wasn't careful so the 17th chapter got in there.
1 Chronicles 21:5 (KJV)

And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

1 Chronicles 21:12 (NIV)

three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies, with their swords overtaking you, or three days of the sword of the Lord—days of plague in the land, with the angel of the Lord ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should answer the one who sent me.”

That is a high price to pay just for a census.

1 Chronicles 21: 14. So the Lord sent disease on Israel, causing the death of seventy thousand men.

Yes, a very high price to pay for a census! I think one of the lessons is that God doesn't want us to trust in our human numbers.
