Masturbation, also known as self-fornication, falls under the fornication category and thus a sin. Many people, particularly men, struggle with this. Besides the fact that it is a form of fornication, 99.999999% of people also deal in some level of lust when they masturbate (looking at porn/pornos, thinking of a particular girl or many, etc) which is also a sin. Some would say does that mean within the context of marriage is it ok, as fornication is allowed in marriage. The answer to that would be only if your spouse is doing it for you. When you get married your body becomes your spouses and theirs becomes yours. This means if you pleasure your body separate from your spouse you are disrespecting them and misusing the body you have committed to them.

I think it's totally wrong ,... and it's just another form of sexual immorality.... 1Thesalonians $:3-7- For this is the willl of God, your sanctification, that you should abstain from sexual immorality...For God did not call us to uncleanliness but in holiness :-)
 
For things that aren't but in the bible word for word my pastor tells me trust in the Holy Spirit that lives inside to tell you the answer.

i know that i'd personally would be embarrassed and ashamed to stand in front of my family, friends, and church, and tell them that i masturbate. I think thats all the answer i need. ^_^

That sounds like a good argument at first, but we wouldn't stand in front of our families and say that we just did something in the bathroom either, or that we just had a flatulence atttack. I'm just saying that just because its a very personal and private matter doesn't mean its a sin.

Very wise words.
 
I'd like to add, focus not so much on 'it's wrong', but rather that it is spiritual 'destructive' to you personally.

If people focus too much on 'it's wrong, as an external moral code placed on you - then this can lead to rebellion.

However if you focus on the fact that spiritually it is destructive, then it's easier to overcome.

Thanks mate. It's a personal revelation I've had over the past year, with my faith struggles. So much of what is taught as Morality should be there to protect ourselves from harm.

I know, because I have been spiritually damaged from the sins in my life.

But I was never warned about that, instead I was moralised to.

Sometimes I think God has allowed that,a s a way to teach me. So when I say God may not magically heal you, that's what I mean.
