God's blessings are wonderful. New life, health, peace, joy and provision for every need are ours in Christ. But God has a way of providing His blessings. If we know this way, it will help us to be more effective in the work of the Kingdom.
God's general blessings are widespread. Rain may cover vast areas. The sun shines continually during the daytime. Sure, clouds may dim the sun, but only for a time.
God's specific blessings are differently supplied. God created man for a purpose, so that He could have a family. All who are born again are God's children and we are all brethren. God chooses to supply His blessings through His people.
For example, I was out of work and I had no car. I was married with four children. Even shopping was hard. A friend lent us her car once a week, which was a great help. God did not parachute a car out of the sky. He used our Christian sister.
God's supply is like a river. A river has banks and depth and flows along. If there is a blockage, the river will cease to flow and back up. Downstream suffers dryness and lack because the water stops flowing. God want to use His people to be a channel, like a river bed, to allow water to flow where it is needed. Some Christians are always open to giving of time, intercession, physical help, encouragement and material help.
Recently, a friend was told she had to move out of her home. It's being sold. She is widow, has some health issues and does not drive. My wife lovingly volunteered us to go an help. We went there and my wife help sort out one of the rooms. It's not even that we did a great deal. My wife is a little frail. But our friend was greatly encouraged. We moved house a couple of years ago and we had to downsize. We were able to offer advice.
Because we knew what was going on, we could pray. We live in an area where rental properties are in short supply and expensive. The government has brought that about. Our friend has been offered a home, without competing with many others, that is decent, a good location and affordable.
No doubt many on the forum have similar testimonies. If you struggle to be a giver, remember that God sees your attitude, not your resources. You may not have much, but we all have 24 hours in a day. We can pray for a situation, even if we can do little to help. Just telling someone that you are praying can be a great comfort.
God does not need much from us. He has everything that anyone could ever need. God asks us to be available. He asks us to be free to give as we are able. God wants to use us to bless others, not with what we do not have, but with what He supplies so that we may give. And there is great blessing in knowing that you have been a blessing to others.
