Look at the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23
Wouldn't you agree these fruits are developed through adversity.
I think this is where the rejoicing is, counting it all joy, knowing adversity causes perseverance and so on is found.
James 1:2-4; Romans 5:1-5
Trials = pruning = more good fruit. Pruning causes the plant to use its energy to produce fruit.
He tests hearts... Proverbs 17:3
He uses thorns, we all have them, for His Glory and our good. 2Cor 12:7-10

He has been invested in our well being even before we came to be...
We see it in Deuteronomy 8:10 -18
We see it in 1 Sam 21:10-22:2
We see it in the famous story of Jonah.
We see it all throughout His word, especially in the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones, Not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

He teaches us through adversity, pain, suffering, pride, loss, all of it and more, that it is through Him, and Him alone, that this is true...
