“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.”
“You shall not murder.”
The Lord said, “…Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.”
“Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death.”
“No person devoted to destruction may be ransomed; they are to be put to death.”
Nicholas Cruz killed seventeen (17) children in a Florida school. Darrell Brooks deliberately crushed and killed seven innocent people who were faithfully celebrating Christ’s birth. He seriously injured nearly 70 more.
They were not punished!
Our leaders believe man’s law is superior to God’s
I have worked in prisons for many years and know all too well what goes on there. All that we have done with these killers is ensure that they can only harm those we find less-desirable. They can now prey on weak and maybe remorseful offenders and perhaps on innocent guards, but cannot now hurt “our people”.
To the faithful God said, “‘But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers… I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.”
The issue is not Democrat/Republican or liberal/conservative; those are smoke screens. The issue is God or the false idols of humanism.
One final thought, God told Moses that a person facing execution has “…his own blood on his head.” This may have two meanings. One, he is fully responsible for his death. But another meaning is hinted at indirectly, his blood on his head may refer to his own redemption. The condemned may have one last opportunity to repent before his execution and so, one last opportunity to avoid eternal separation and damnation. He pays the earthly penalty for his actions, but a graceful God still seeks his repentance. God’s mercy has been short-changed by human arrogance.
