There is a doctrine of accountability for sure.
I don't think everyone who was deceived is accountable and I think you agree.
Many were simple victims, but certainly many should have known better and chose to participate out of trusting those exalted as authorities. I agree with you that many are reaping what they sow. They agree with the evil course of action of those they identify with. Agreeing with their ideology is very wicked. Your point about the criminals invading and the cases in history are well taken. It reminds us of how the Lord often used enemies, disease and famine to bring judgement on His rebellious tribes in Israel and Judah.
The Lord sometimes makes it public to warn others, like the cases of those nurses who collapsed during live stream promotions and that comedian who died(?) immediately after bragging, then invoking the Lord's Name.
