I always loved the above analogy. God sent a plague of poisonous snakes among the people of Israel and Moses interceded for them and God told him to make pole with a bronze serpent attached to the top. Anyone who had been bitten, if they looked to the bronze serpent the poison would have no affect on them. In the same way, just as the poison would be lethal to those who did not look to the bronze snake, in the same way when we look to Jesus on the cross, the poison of sin has no affect on us.

Is this not a cross references to what Jesus said in Mark 16: 17-18, a sign for anyone who believes in Christ?

Yeah, Paul was proof of the above when the ship he was on was grounded on the reef on Malta and when they had built a fire and that snake jumped out and latched onto Paul's hand. The people of Malta were waiting for Paul to swell up and die, but he didn't (Acts 28:4-6). I do however hate what these radical groups have done with that scripture, by dancing on stages with snakes and drinking strychnine poison, which is watered down I'm sure.
I believe God was trying to teach Moses how to snake handle using his rod not reaching into rattle snake dens

The above is not correct. The word "paradise" is not unique to heaven, as Eden was also called paradise. When Jesus said to the man next to him "today you will be with me in paradise" he was speaking of the same place where Abraham and Lazarus were in that area across from Sheol/Hades, which Abraham referred to as a place of comfort. Scripture states that unless there is a shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sin and the payment for sin is death. Though Jesus paid the penalty for sin by dying in our place, He himself was without sin and therefore death could not hold him. Also, Jesus soul and spirit did not split up with one going to the Father in heaven and the other going down into Sheol. Both Christ's soul/spirit went down into Sheol/Hades in area where Abraham and Lazarus were, that place of paradise. Another proof that Jesus did not ascend into heaven either via soul or spirit can be deduced from the following:
"Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned and said to Him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means, Teacher).
17“Do not cling to Me,” Jesus said, “For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go and tell My brothers, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’”
According to the scripture above, after his resurrection, Jesus had not yet ascended to the Father, which would definitely rule out heaven as the place of paradise that Jesus was speaking of.
The above is a well known false teaching stating that the comma is in the wrong place, that it should be placed after the word "today" instead of after the word "You." Here is the same scripture with the comma moved as they are suggesting:
1). "And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
2). "And He said to him, "Truly I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise."
The first example infers that the Jesus is telling the man that he will be with him in paradise that very day, while the second example infers that Jesus is telling him that day that he will be in paradise. It is important to note that every single major translator has the comma after the word "You" and none have it after the word "Today." What do you think that the odds that all of the Hebrew and Greek scholars, all from different schools and walks of life, with strict adherence to translation requirements, that everyone of them put the comma in the wrong place?
In example #1, Jesus is promising the man that he will be with him in paradise that very day, where example #2 makes Jesus sound like he's doing Shakespeare in the park. Why would Jesus need to inform the man what day he was telling him this information? It is ridiculous to think of! The paradise that Jesus was promising the man who was crucified next him, was the same place that Abraham and Lazarus were, which was that area across from Sheol/Hades which was separated by a great chasm as described in Luke 16:19-31.

Genesis 3:15 And I [God] will put enmity between thee [Satan] and the woman [Eve], and between thy seed [the Kenites] and her Seed [Jesus Christ]; It [Christ] shall bruise thy [Satan's] head, and thou [Satan] shalt bruise His [Christ's] heel.
Eve's seed is our Lord Jesus Christ. While Satan's seed are the children, to the last generation, called the Kenites. Those offspring are born from the sexual union between Eve and Satan [the serpent, and the tree of good and evil]. God is telling us that He will put trouble between Eve's children [through Adam and Seth], and Satan's offspring through Cain, called the Kenites.
It is Jesus Christ that shall bruise the head of Satan, at Christ's return at the second advent; while it was Satan's children the Kenites, [not brother Judah] that bruised the heel of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. This was done when the spikes were driven through Christ's heel, as He hung on the cross to pay the full price for our sins, once and for all.
Most "men of God" acknowledge that Genesis 3:15 is talking about the death of Jesus Christ when He was nailed to the cross for our sins. They recognize that "seed" is referring to the children of the woman "Eve", yet somehow they just want to spiritualize everything else that happened in the Garden of Eden between Eve and the two men [Satan and Adam]. The "seed" in the Hebrew is called "zirmah", and in the Greek, it is "sperma". We in the English call it "sperm", and in Strongs Hebrew Dictionary # 2233; "Posterity, carnally, child, fruitful". Friend, it can't be any clearer. The seed of Satan's "posterity" are the "Kenites", while Adam's posterity is in Christ, and of the pure bloodline through Seth.
Until you understand what really took place in the Garden of Eden, and why, it will be difficult for you to grow up and mature in the Word of God, and in true Christianity.
