Well, that's a tough one. I don't wanna see folks being sentenced to death, but everytime I start getting liberal thoughts on the matter, I simply take a look at what made the jury hand down a death sentence, and I'm cured.
An eye for an eye. I don't think it is Jesus' way. I many times feel in this world, that we don't make love as powerful as it should be. All love comes from God. And yet we resort to 'judgement' and 'condemnation' which are laws of man. You never see love written into man's laws do you? And yet in God's laws, and the laws Jesus set down, these should overrule man's laws. But people still fall into judgement and condemnation of others, as if to use them as a scapegoat for their own sins.
If Jesus was the judge for someone given the death penalty, how would he be? Would he not free them of their demons? Isn't that what love does, when it shines so brightly on darkness?
I understand the logic of man - someone causes suffering and may cause more suffering. But I believe sentencing someone to death, is a way of escaping even trying to show that God's love is more powerful than anything else in the world.
I often wonder if the crime that perpetually cycles in our reality, is a symptom of the lack of love we share - for those we judge to be the enemy, or for those who do not love us or may wish us harm. Our lack of love for ALL our brothers and sisters in this world, makes the world a hellish place. And yet the kingdom of heaven is so near to our hearts, if we only choose love rather than logic. Faith rather than analysis. God rather than our inferior minds.

It doesn't change what's done. It's almost a severe mercy; life without parole is really sticking it to someone.

The bible is full of contradictions though. And people tend to take the scriptures that validate their own thoughts. This is why religion can cause so much violence, and people committing violence 'in the name of God'.
What I follow, is that God is Love. And that is because I really think love is the most powerful thing. I look at Jesus. And if Jesus was God in human form, did you see him going around killing people?
So am I right in saying that you already believed in capital punishment, or feel that certain people deserve to die?
I know that in your country Philippines, which is mainly Roman Catholic, you are having a cleansing by Duterte of drug abuse. I can understand why people might think it is a good thing, or that maybe God sent Duterte to sort out the problem.
But remember, WHY do people turn to drugs in the first place? It is getting to the soul of a matter that counts. You can kill them you can offer them rehabilitation. But it is love which changes them.
I am interested to see the outcome anyway.

The Bible is not full of contradictions. It is the kind of wisdom who is not given to the wicked. God often uses contrast to keep us thinking. He wants to us to seek Him with all our heart. We can't acquire the wisdom of God by our own efforts,instead He gives wisdom to those who seek and ask for it. Jesus offered forgiveness to those who will accept it. But the wicked shall not go unpunished. It is an unforgivable sin to reject the sacrifice of Jesus and commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit so it is justified that God has authorized the government to execute those who commit sin against God and the state.
So I was curious on your alls take on the death penalty. Should it be banned, or not? What do you guys think
I leave such decisions up to the Authorities..
My general thinking is it is better to give a person as much time as possible to live so as to give them more of a chance to repent of their sins and accept Jesus as their LORD and Redeemer... I know that an unrepentant sinner is going to be facing much worse in eternity then an earth type death sentence.. So i would want that person to be given the maximum chance to be saved... Where there is life there is hope..
If death penalty will lead them to repentance and acceptance of Jesus then God will be glorified and anything that glorifies Him is not against His will.

I personally support the death penalty and wish it was in my country. For all nonces, peados, r2pists, child k1llers, s3x offenders, woman beaters, for anyone who harms children and for drug dealers.
Also for serial k1llers.
Should be completely banned. I don't care what anyone says saying the bible permits it. I believe in justice and not stooping down to a murderers level

Personally I think that just letting them rot in prison is a better option, as it can be worse than immediate death.
You know, to me that is the worst punnishment ever. To have your life be for nothing, for it to literly be spent behind bars.... You have no life then. We are given one chance to live. To have it taken away, to be made a prisonar for that, is awfull. Thus are we reminded of our mortality
I read an article where most Christians in the USA support the death penalty, a reason being that it's supported in the Bible. I read another article saying Christians shouldn't fight or be opposed to capital punishment. I'm sorry but I will never support it. Does it make me a bad christian? That is for God to judge but I will never support it and if ever get the opportunity would protest against it. Death Penalty, you are killing murder with more killing.

One major flaw there : We ALL deserve death. (the penalty for sin is death, remember? for any sin... for all sin.....

Contrary to popular belief, the death penalty does not deter crime. It has not been proven factually by criminologists that capital punishment deters crimes.
I saw an episode of Forensic Files where a man was convicted of killing a young girl. The woman while full of grief and anger objected to the man who murdered her daughter to get the death penalty. She said that man has a mother and she didn't want that mother to experience the loss of a child the same way she lost her daughter.
But anyway to each their own, just because the Bible supports it (if you interpret it that way), doesn't mean I have to.

Well, the death penalty is in decline. Like it or not, it will be but a memory inside the next 20 years.
