Many translation versions use the word disqualified, since teachers are to exercise spiritual discipline for effectiveness in ministry.
I did check the Strongs. The word means unapproved, rejected; by implication worthless.

NT:96
<START GREEK>a)do/kimo$
<END GREEK> adokimos (ad-ok'-ee-mos); from NT:1 (as a negative particle) and NT:1384; unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally):

KJV - castaway, rejected, reprobate.

The invisible things of God are known by the things that are seen. Hence, the spiritual is discerned from what is seen. Physical birth teaches about spiritual birth. Thus, having nothing to do with your physical birth portends having nothing to do with your spiritual birth.
Spiritual things are invisible to the eye, yet God's designs reveal what is true in the spiritual realm.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
I don't know the exact algebraic formula that would provide the solution to 3000 souls water baptized in one day but it seems that each person would only get a 2-minute window for his baptism if every minute in a 24 hr day were utilized. Not that it's impossible, I suppose I don't know because I can't imagine it (that's a lot of people in one day), but, it seems to me that this 'baptism in the name" is an instantaneous instance coinciding with rightly, and wholly, believing in the name rather a going into the water saying what needs to be said, being dunked and brought back up and getting out of the water for the next person's ceremony.

No, it is the only step in faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Once you believe, you have faith. Hence, since we are saved by grace THROUGH FAITH, anyone possessing faith is saved.
Now I will grant you that faith will lead us to perform many things, but once someone possesses faith, they are saved.
Hearing the word of God results in one placing their trust in Jesus and doing what it says is required in order to be born again.

I do believe what is recorded in the Word eventhough I may not understand all of the particulars. Something to keep in mind is many people would have been administering baptisms.

John 8 verses 43, 47, Acts 13 verse 48, Romans 8 verse 8, John 8 verse 43 “Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you are unable to accept My message.” “Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.

Putting their trust in Jesus is doing what it says is required in order to be born again. That is, being baptized in Jesus' Name is putting your trust in Him. If being baptized with fire doesn't necessarily mean being immersed into flames, then why can't I see being baptized into a name as representative of being immersed into that person?

John 10 verses 27-28 My sheep hear My voice, I know them and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.

Nope. One must be born again so that they will do the will of God.

STILL...you have not shown how someone who is opposed and hostile towards God, who does no good, and who possesses no righteousness, suddenly is inclined to acquiesce to God. The reason one does is because God births them from above. You make much of Acts 2:38, but you ignore the previous verses. There we find God producing the hearing that births faith and circumcising the heart so that the will is altered towards God. When they heard this...faith created, they were pricked in their hearts...circumcision without hands, they said...what shall we do? They are no longer resistant to God and begin to seek after Him and what He desires. This is what it is to be born from above and be made spiritually alive; alive to God and in Christ.

1 Corinthians 2 verse 12; Colossians 2 verse 13 When you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

Righteousness Of Christ ~ “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.” You were dead in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. The Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. If Christ is in you, your spirit is alive because of righteousness. We put on the righteousness of Christ.

Philippians 3 verse 3; Colossians 2 verse 11; Romans 2 verse 29b ~ For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh. You were also circumcised, in the putting off of your sinful nature, with the circumcision performed by Christ and not by human hands. Circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code.

Rom 8:9
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The Spirit of God came to dwell inside of people when the NT began on the Day of Pentecost:

Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
1. Holy Spirit: Indwelling vs. Empowering
  • Indwelling: The Holy Spirit lives within every believer (see John 14:17, Romans 8:11). This is a constant presence.
  • Coming Upon: The Holy Spirit can also "come upon" a person for a specific purpose, often associated with empowerment for ministry, prophecy, or boldness (see Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4).
Assumption:

He assumes that these are two separate experiences or works of the Holy Spirit, not just different ways of describing the same thing.

2. God’s Presence: Everywhere, Yet Manifested
  • Omnipresence: God is present everywhere at all times.
  • Manifest Presence: Sometimes, God’s presence is experienced more tangibly or powerfully, such as during worship or prayer.
Assumption:

He assumes that God's omnipresence doesn’t contradict the idea that God can be "more present" or "manifest" in certain situations, especially when people worship "in spirit and in truth" (see John 4:23-24).

Speaking of unbelief, how would it apply to what is revealed in Acts 2:38 concerning water and Spirit. According to that verse, and as witnessed elsewhere in the word, baptism in the name of Jesus remits sin. And receiving the Holy Spirit is essential as well. These things can only become a reality because Jesus' sacrifice made it possible. Jesus said unless a man is born of water and of Spirit he cannot enter Heaven.

Consider what Jesus said in John 12:48:
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Connection to Baptism and Belief
  • Belief as the Core Issue:
You discuss whether baptism is absolutely necessary for salvation. The point being made is that the Bible emphasises unbelief (not believing in Christ) as the primary reason for rejection, not merely the lack of baptism.
  • Baptism and the Holy Spirit:
Acts 2:38 and John 3:5 (being "born of water and Spirit") are cited to show that baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit are important steps in the Christian faith, made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice.
  • God’s Sovereignty:
God can save anyone He chooses, even if they were not baptised, because God is not limited by human rituals.
In summary:
(John 12:48) emphasises that, ultimately, it is acceptance or rejection of Jesus and His teachings that determines a person’s standing before God. While baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit are important, it is unbelief—refusing to accept Jesus and His words—that leads to judgment. The words of Jesus will be the standard by which all are judged.

If salvation is based solely on "faith alone" for some odd reason scripture would mention it. Correct?

The thief on the cross was probably not baptized for the remission of sins.

Yes, many were baptized for the remission of sins during the ministry of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ but many were not. The thief on the cross was probably in the latter.

But it would be foolish to state as a fact either way. Which it seems you are doing.

If it means that much to you, just ask him yourself in heaven but he probably gets tried of the question.

BTW, many people insist that his name was Dismas but that is an assumption also.

"The word that I have spoken" means that Jesus’ teachings are the ultimate standard by which all people will be judged.
How we respond to His words—whether we believe and obey or reject them—determines our standing before God on the day of judgment.

No such thing as death bed conversions without baptism. Last minute fear of dying does not negate God’s word nor is a free pass around it.
It is sad, people giving those dying false hope. GOD does NOT change his rules. Thank you.
