Example: A poem.
When writing a poem or copying one to this site, we find in the preview that it jumbles every line together.
Thus, it is going to take longer than five minutes to make it read like we wrote it before we submit it, or else we submit it with the mistakes that we need to address to the administrators (HEY WE NEED MORE TIME TO MAKE CORRECTIONS)
 
Mods won't make changes to your posts unless there is a rule broken or you give too much personal information.

The 5 minute limit has been brought up umpteen times already and they have explained it over and over as to why they won't change it. They have their reasons.

There were times I wish I had more than 5 minutes to edit my posts, but, yeah, I can understand the time limit. I think most folks here are gracious regarding typos and such, since they, too, understand the time limit restrictions when it comes to editing. :)
 
Yeah for security and abuse reasons, post edit times are kept where they're at.
People can always type it up in a text editor first, proof read, edit, etc.
Then post in the forums.

Or just reply to your initial post with an edited version of the original post, and indicate the first post was a flawed rough draft.
 
if you are concerned about the formatting of your posts...you can click the 'go advanced' button which takes you to another screen where you get the option of a 'preview post' button...then you can get the formatting right before you actually post it...
 
Honestly the low quality of post formatting among CC users makes me think five minutes is too long, being as most don't use it.
 
The only time I really need to proofread carefully, is if I'm posting something complicated in a doctrinal debate...

and when that's the case, your antagonist isn't really reading your posts anyway, lol.

I agree, after I respond I like to look at it to make sure I made myself clear and that I had the right heart in the matter. Sometimes I add too much and try to shorten. I also usually share a verse and I have to look up quick.

Heh was just thinking of making a topic like this but see it this problem with only 5 minutes to edit all ready being brought up. Personally it kind of perplex me why you only get 5 minutes to edit posts, I would think you just let people edit at any time, but then again maybe that like slows down servers and stuff.

Either way 5 minutes I think is indeed too short to both proofread and edit. Maybe something of a compromise could be worked out, like having editting be open for 1 day (24 hour period)?

As stated, the site owner has this time frame selected for a few different reasons. They have stated repeatedly they are not going to budge on this. Answers have been given on this in various other threads of the same topic.
