I was reading a very interesting article in a Christian magazine that talked about the Four Beasts of Daniel and the coming of the Antichrist.

Now of course these four beasts in Daniel's dream are the four Kingdoms that would play a major part in the OT. The first beast, a lion with wings that stood on two legs like a human (and was given the mind of a human), stood for Babylon. The wings were plucked from the beast, symbolizing Babylon's halt in expansion and it was given these human traits because it was prophesied to rule for seventy years (the lifespan of a human).

The second beast, a lopsided bear with three ribs in it's mouth, represented Medo-Persia. The three ribs stood for Egypt, Lydia and Babylon, which Medo-Persia defeated. The Lopsidedness of the bear represents the occupation of the Medes people and Persian people in the nation, in which the Persians were in greater power.

The third beast, a leopard with four wings and four heads, was Greece. The four wings and heads stood for the four divisions of Greece after the death of Alexander the Great.the Leopard, being the fastest land animal on the planet, stood for the speed in which Alexander the Great nearly conquested every kingdom on earth. A "little horn" rising out of Greece is referred to in Daniel 8:9.

The fourth beast, a dragon, is Rome. The dragon grows 10 horns on it's head. Then a little horn sprouts from the head of the dragon, plucking up the first 3. This "Little Horn" is conceived as the modern Antichrist. The dragon also had features cast in iron, like its teeth.

Now, the first "Little Horn" rose from Greece. The article I was reading named Antiochus IV Epiphanes as this "Little Horn." He was called the preparer of the way for the Antichrist (the second 'Little Horn'). He would shout blasphemous things, calling himself a god and do treacherous things to the people around him. These were characteristics of Antiochus. So the "preparer of the way" has already come.

The Antichrist would mark the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven, the end of times, and the second coming of Jesus Christ. The second "Little Horn" would rise out of the fourth beast, which was Rome, but how can this be if the Kingdom of Rome no longer exists?

Well, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and told Daniel about it. The dream was of a man with a Head of Gold, Chest of Silver, Waist and Thighs of Brass, Legs of Iron and Feet of Iron and Clay. These seperate parts stand for the kingdoms, but there are five. The legs of iron are Rome, so what are the feet? According to the article, the feet were the Second Roman Empire. It said Rome would rise again and out of this second Rome, the Antichrist would come.

The reason I am posting this is to see what everyone else thinks of it. I found it to be very interesting, considering that, according to the article, we would see the rise of a new Roman Empire before we saw the Second Coming. Does anyone think this could be a possibility?

Very interesting!
That is quite a question. Well obviously there is no Roman empire anymore. But there is a state of the Roman Catholic Church, right in Rome, the Vatican. Like the "little horn" the Vatican is also very small. Maybe this is what the passage means.
I hope I am wrong, I'm a Catholic. =)

Interesting thought. But the "Little Horns" are said to be single people rising from the ocean of humans in Daniel.

You may be referring to when Satan rules in the church: (2Thes 2:3) Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
(2Thes 2:4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
(Rev 13:7) And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
And so on and so on.
This is the rise of the antichrist just at the time of the beginning of the great tribulation period. Christ did say that antichrist was already in the world, so if that is so, then the antichrist is satan himself.
(1Jn 4:3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
