A friend of mine wrote this. She wasn't going to post it (though she's posted some in here before), but I think it needs to be posted. So...I'll bring her a chocolate extreme blizzard w/chocolate ice cream and ask for forgiveness the next time I see her.
The Game
I've always wondered about the game.
Both males and females play it.
I've watched many playing it in my life.
Some playing between two, some even three.
Some playing more than onegame at a time.
I had played the game once...as a teen
But I was so insecure I couldn't play
So I didn't last long
Still I was curious
Watching others seemingly having fun,
laughing, loving, caring.
Others were sliced and broken...only to pick up pieces
They would glue themselves backtogether
Then go on the search to play itagain
Now…a few decades later
I see the game...I was allowed to play it
At least in part
In security and safety
I can understand why so many love the game
I admit I loved the teasing, the laughter, the highs, the feeling of someonewanting to be with you.
Those are awesome amazing feeling
The problem: It's a game
Someone will come out winning
They win bragging rights I guess
Someone will lose.
Picking up shards of themselves
Tucking their tails and licking their wounds
And as usual...I very rarely ever win at games
I was allowed to learn.
The Lord put someone there to guide me
To give me a security to play
Oh I know, this thought will cause a major theological debate
But I needed to learn...to be aware of different characters
How to deal with them
How to help those who need it
How to cast off or avoid the wolves
Sometimes it's hard to tell which is which
But I played
All the while I was unharmed
Only my pride bruised.
In truth
There are no winners
You see...it's only a game
Not real...a fantasy
In the end, the person that wins
They are just as broken...empty...and bare as theone who left
I learned a lot about myself
I learned a lot about the game
But I don't want to play it any more
For me...when I played
I gave a part of myself.
I can't totally retreat however
For in the game
I did find fellow brethren
They won't let me pull totally back into myself
For there...in that seclusion, is another game.
A game of destruction
So for those coming in
Look, see, learn, and have fun
But I suggest you stay away from the game.
And to those advanced players
A suggestion
Don't become so calloused that you forget
Don’t forget what it’s like to be anovice
To be stepped on by someone youthought cared
Let them down easy….for yousee.
It’s only a Game.
