So, I just got to the Grand Canyon and...there are just no words to describe it. To call it amazing seems like an insult. When I saw it, two phrases came into my mind:
  • "In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the Earth."
  • "I never saw true beauty till this night." (It was daytime, but that came into my head anyway)
There were literally tears in my eyes and it was so beautiful I didn't look away. I had planned to walk to a geological museum that was along the trail but didn't get to it because I had to keep stopping to look at the Canyon.

One thing I thought was that I had no idea what beauty was until I saw the Canyon and that nothing could possibly be more beautiful. Then, of course, I realized that God, who made the Grand Canyon, is infinitely more beautiful than the Grand Canyon, but...when I was looking at the Canyon, even though I mentally knew God was more beautiful, I couldn't conceive how that could be. Which of course just puts me more in awe of God because my mind couldn't conceive a greater beauty but it exists because God does. I'm an editor and I love words; I thrive on fantasy and imagination, but no language could possibly have a word that describes the Grand Canyon. Not even Shakespeare could even come close to doing it justice. So now I have a greater appreciation of what the Bible means when it says God is glorious. Because if the Grand Canyon can't be described, I can't imagine God can accurately be put into words.

Anyway I just thought I'd share this. I'm not exaggerating a single bit. I thought those who haven't seen the Grand Canyon might want to know so maybe they'll be more likely to see it and I wondered if anyone on here who has seen the Grand Canyon wanted to share their experience and thoughts.
