If you use that passage, perhaps if the signs and wonders in verse 8 were indeed given to them, they might be more active in spreading the gospel?

Most who label themselves as Christians have a form of godliness because they have rejected the Cross. This is why there are few labourers. Therefore, they have rejected the Righteousness of God.
