The hazard of the adultery (physical and spiritual):

• “Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; *he who does it destroys his own soul*.” (Proverbs 6.32).

The Holy Scripture is clear: only the widow can remarriage:

• “Or are you ignorant, brothers; for I speak to those who know the Law; that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? For the married woman was bound by law to the living husband. But if the husband is dead, she is set free from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress by becoming another man's wife.” (Romans 7.1-3).

And the adultery is so serious that Jesus said:

• “But I say to you that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28)

So, if we pine for having a sound soul, let’s do away with all kind of adultery. This is only a bond for us (Deut 7.16) that preclude us from achieving the salvation (see 1Corinthians 7.32-35).

Perhaps you are arguing: “but Jesus said”:

• “And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is put away commits adultery.” (Mat 19:9).

At that time, everyone that committed adultery was killed (Leviticus 20.10). This allowed the victim remarriage inasmuch as, now, he/she is widow.

So, have a great week being faithful to the spouse of your youth because the Creator has been witness between you and him/her.
