Started reading this book today after it was recommended to me( Gee i wonder who).No idea where it fits in with the spectrum of christianity brands n no really interested in labels anyway. Had it on kindle n was putting off reading it for a week now. I guess I was expecting some dry lecture with no invitation whatsoever to use my brain to make sense of it.
Just finished chapter 1, n this guy is not only precise n thorough in his exposé, but is also funny!
Here is an extract, talking about Saint Augustine:"...God called the universe into being. Augustine called the act the "divine imperative" or the divine fiat.(...)When Augustine spoke of a fiat , he was not thinking of a little italian car".
I don't care how lame a joke is but the willingness to b lighthearted on such an awesome topic got to b applauded. In my book, anyway. More often than not, in my limited experience of christian fellowship, an air of seriousness (aka stuffiness) seems to b the norm, quite refreshing to find someone so clearly knowledgeable but still humble n fun.
A bon entendeur, salut...
