Probably won't. I'm a huge scifi buff, but I'd rather be spending time on Hyperion, Arrakis, or a version of history in which the CSA acquires AK-47s than going hungry.
 
I will probably see it just to see what the big deal is :) , and I'm interested in reading the books too....someday, when I finish reading other books first.
 
So, whats the big deal about this movie? I've seen the commercials and don't see why everyone's talking about it. Am i missing something?
 
I have read the first book and most likely will read the rest of the series. Not sure if I will go and see it, though it's highly recommend by the kids at school :) I'm actually very surprised at how young the kids are that are reading these books.
 
Read and loved the series. Its a great story and Suzanne Collins is a fantastic writer with amazing characters.

The movie sadly fell short, as most movie adaptations do, though it was better then a lot of others I've seen.
I think Hollywood was so excited to make sure this was the next big thing that they didn't give the books the time and consideration they needed to take the movie from being OK to being Great.
 
I read the first book, am working on the second. I probably won't see the movies. Movies based on books are usually major let downs, except for the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie.

These books are good. It teaches children the lessons of what happens when government controls your life too much. I hope that message gets sunk in to the heads of kids reading these books. It's a lesson they need to learn quick.
 
Okay, I'm gonna go with probably not.

I have absolutley no idea what these books or movies are about... but everyone keeps talking about it.
 
I have read the first book and saw the movie today. There is a tremendous amount of symbolism in the movie. I also appreciate the lack of sexual content and foul language. I even thought the "violent" scenes were handled with discretion in the movie. I'll be reading the other 2 books now as well.
 
I saw the movie last night and I agree with Jullianna's last post. I thought the movie was pretty well done and though there are lots of details missing that were in the book, one can still get the gist of the story. To those that like to read, I would recommend reading the book even if you already watched the movie.

I do think there are some great messages in this book and some kids will get them, but it went over my class' head. I thought it was funny because those that both watched the movie and read the book thought the biggest difference was that the book explains why a certain character calls Katniss 'Catnip' and in the movie they don't. It's just assumed that you know he is teasing (they didn't understand that). Obviously there were other bigger things missing or changed in the movie. :)
 
I choose not to read the books or movies simply because from what I know of the synopsis, not interested.

Here's a question: Have you ever thought that the hunger games could really happen in real life? After all, we did have the Aztec games, (at least I think it was them) were the losing team was sacrificed.

Oh, and we can't forget the gladiators, which is what the Hunger Games makes me think of.

Well now that stinks. I only wanted to see it for the violence.
 
Read the book and go see Act of Valor. Plenty of violence in that one :)

I saw that last weekend. I didn't think it was that violent, but it showed some awesome stuff! An example of what I like is The Hurt Locker and Saving Private Ryan.
