The problem and why you stress so much about many of the decisions you make is that you've made life about you and not about Christ.
Your vocabulary is filled up with so many mentions of I/me/myself/my reputation/my image/ How people would see me/ How people would perceive me, etc.
You ask questions like 'How can I do something like that?' People would look at me like a fool you know, I can stoop, but not as low being the first person to make the move of reconciliation. I've not had peace about the silent treatment we've been giving each other, I feel the Holy Spirit prompting me to take the first step, but check it, think of the kind of stories that would be flying around afterwards. The same God that is stirring my heart can stir hers as well to do the needful. Oh please! My reputation is on the line... SELF!
Another instance is this: I know the effort I have put into developing myself, my skills, and what have you? And suddenly I'm supposed to throw all those away to go to this particular locality and to be a 'what' there again? No, that's just hard to accept. It's not that deep; it's not as deep as the way I feel God is saying it and all. Maybe it's just my mind, because how can I just leave everything, I mean every single thing that I've worked and built myself for, and go to that locality. Maybe I'm just over thinking things. SELF!!
Finally, this: Me? Work in that section ke? Why would I pray about this and still be chosen to work in that section? How would people even look at me? Won't they feel I missed my way? Would they even accept what I say? What if the things I say don't make sense or are inadequate? What if I... LOW SELF ESTEEM BEING POWERED BY SELF!!!
Dear Sis/Bro,
When things stop being about you, it can then be fully about Christ. Then would you be able to fully fix your gaze on Him with one aim: to bring glory to His name. Whether it involves giving up fame, legitimate things, your reputation in the world, etc. to bring glory to God's name, then you'll be able to do it as He strengthens you.
You would then be able to get to that place where your fears, insecurities, worries, and thoughts of what others would say about you, become buried beneath the love God has for you and your desire to please Him, and despite the reactions or talk of the world, you stay with Him, seeking His will and doing it by His grace and enablement.
Your motto becomes CHRIST above SELF!
To you who feels inadequate,
I want you to remember that it is Christ that now lives in you, and the things you now do are by His grace, strength, and enablement and as such, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Christ never called you to hide your light under a bushel, but that it should SO shine that others may see your good works and glorify your Father wihich is in Heaven.
I'll close with some parts of the lyrics of a song that reads thus:
It's all about You, Jesus
And all this is for You
For You glory and your fame
It's not about me
As if You should do things my way
You alone are God and I surrender
To your ways...
–Jesus Lover Of My Soul (It’s All About You)
Song by Paul Oakley
God bless you.
