okay first of all we are saved by grace and are not under law , but has anyone studied the law I have but what this thread is not to cause arguments or controversies but to point out what the law taught mankind its intent only scriptural and lets keep it within context thank you God bless peace of christ be with you
 
The law given only to expose sin and has no remedy for it. For the remedy and how to properly live for God. Go to my thread THE CROSS.
 
i understand the cross but th good things of the law like cleanliness and taking care of the poor the widow the fatherless , you know
 
But don't the heathen do that as well. What sets us apart our works or our faith and faith in what. The work of the cross.
 
The intent of the law of Moses is nothing more than this:

He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what the LORD requires of you; to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8​

The question is, can you? I think not and thats why we need the cross for salvation and sanctification as the Holy Spirit can only clean us as our faith is in the cross and nothing else. Not even fasting or observing the Sabbath. I know thems fighting words but, it happens to be the truth. Faith in the cross is the only thing that pleases the Father. Can you find something else. I think not and I have been at this a long time and its not my teaching but Pauls.

The fact is where the spirit is, so is the cross. You will not find one without the other. We have the spirit because there was a cross.
 
Galatians 3

The Laws were created to give us chances after chances to rehabilitate us. God has kept on giving us chances, but if it were I, the first mistake a person does, they are out of here. But God's mercy kept on giving us chances like most parents does for their spoiled children. So I guess He want us to have the same feelings that He has for us and appreciate the things that He has created for us to enjoy but not the things that we has created.

we take care of the poor, the widow and the fatherless out of love and because we have His Holy Spirit who teaches us His ways. Not because of the Law and the thought of punishment or reward but out of overflowing love and true understanding of what God wants His children to do and be.

Jesus washed us clean with His blood and gave us His Holy Spirit to cry out Abba Father so that we are no longer servants to be ordered around but beloved children and heirs to be ambassadors in this world for our Father who is in Heaven.

Therefore the Law taught us how much we NEED Jesus and how to be compassionate to others who are not perfect, who are like us and make mistakes. It teaches us that WE need forgiveness and that GOD shows us how we should forgive others because HE died for us and Forgave us our sins. Our debt is so much greater, our transgressions so much more severe than any that another could do against us, but Jesus washed us clean. He wiped away the handwriting and nailed it to the cross.

Colossians 2:14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

I almost "liked" your post until you said there 'was' the cross. I'm just technical that way. the cross is just as present now as it was then and with out it ,we have no hope nor a Holy Spirit. We cannot attain with out it, why do so many christians belittle the cross and focus on what they are doing, that is the essence of the law. The Pharisees were so focused on law that you could not comb your hair on the sabbath, because you might comb out a grain of dirt and that would be considered work. Jesus said you strain out a gnat, but cannot see the elephant. That elephant is the cross.
 
Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Christ's cross is over and done. Thank GOD for that. The spirit now works the cross in our lives. Thank GOD for that. So the cross is the work of the holy spirit.
 
Among other things, it is a witness against us.
No matter who we are, there are always parts of it that we seem to ignore or refuse.

Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
 
The law shows us the character of Christ. Because Christ kept the law then the gospels written about the life of Christ reveals how God intends we should keep the law. So since the law points out sin then we are falling short of being like Christ in character. So it points out sin but, cannot save.

Use Christ to point to the law? It's the other way around. The law points to Christ.

Many people are still coming to the cross. I, for one, rely on the cross everyday. Otherwise the enemy would consume me, because I am not strong enough to defend myself. I need the cross daily. I'm not a super christian. I don't think the exist or at least, Paul needed it every day. But, I guess some don't.

That is what I said. Read the start of my post then tell me what it says. The rest is a further explanation. Since Christ kept the law then the life of Christ shows what it means to keep the law as God intends.
 
Christ died in our place and His sacrifice freed us from the penalty of the law. However we are free from the law only to the extent that it can no longer condemn us, we are still commanded to obey its percepts...as the Word of God in Deuteronomy 29: 29 speaks “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."
 
The law is not just to show us our sin peoplesXD tsk.. tsk.. tsk.. don't you know? the law was given to us as guidelines to Good living, does it not say in scripture how we will be blessed for following it? Look at how much Good it does to follow it, the law may be a curse to some but it has helped me grow in my faith tremendously. It was given to us for a reason you know?
