Being a devout Christian can be hard, but throw being a teenager into the mix and it just feels downright impossible. Things like hormones can just throw your entire day into one big emotional mosh pit. A certain bible verse comes to mind.
"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?" Jeremiah 17:9
Not only this, but with school systems making a huge fuss about religion things just keep getting harder. Bringing your bible to school, which I do almost everyday, leads to harsh rumors spreading around. Teachers giving you dirty looks when you go against what they're saying about homosexuals and their 'rights.' Having to go through science classes as a Christian is just utter chaos. Especially when you refuse to answer test questions untruthfully even through you were taught things that were untruthful in that class.
Friends are a big source of stress as well. People that you used to love hanging out with are people you now avoid. You don't want to sit around and talk about sinful things anymore. You find yourself more interested in a conversation centered around Bible topics, but there's no one your age that's actually interested in that sort of thing. There may be, but no one around you. It makes you feel alienated. When you attempt to speak with older people others misconstrue what your intentions are.
Don't even get me started on the male species. Being a Christian and being in a relationship with someone from this generation is like having an ice-cube in boiling water. It just can't, or rarely, happens. And when it does, it doesn't last long. It leads to messy breakups and heartbreaks.
Parents that aren't Christians just add to the list. Having a parent bogging you down and restricting your access to worship just frustrates you even more. Have you ever tried to love someone that stops you from doing what you WANt/NEED to do? It's a battle in and out of itself. And then refuting these points that they're throwing at you make it even worse. Mothers that are out to convert you from Christianity are just icing on the proverbial cake.
I'm almost positive I'm not the only one struggling with these things, so I'm going to make a blog about these topics, and more. I'll try to get the high lights of my day, and share them with you. Perhaps my experiences and comments can help whoever is reading this get through being a teenager while attempting to keep Christ first. I'm going to try to make this a daily thing, but absolutely no promises.~
