Stephen King's books take too long to draw me. Once I'm in they depress me, so I stopped reading them.

For me, grabbing a paperback to chill on the beach is perfection. Nothing fits that bill like the Jack Reacher series. :)
(Tom Cruise is nothing like him. The movie was a terrible disappointment. Don't watch it. Read the books. :) )

I read his book 11/22/63, thats the only Stephen King book I actually have read, and I found it real good. The end brought tears to my eyes, when George and Sadie met again:o

I loved the Secret Garden myself. There is a movie? Wow, I just have to get it:)
 
I want something like this. I know it's small and not that fancy, but I want to be able to lay on the bed and then put my feet up on the angled ceiling part. My room is upstairs and the ceilings slant like that and I lay on my bed and do that sometimes in my room while I read. Though, I'd probably prefer it next to a window instead of a wall, so I could also watch it snow or see the spring leaves on the trees. :)

Stephen King - I've only read a few but I really enjoyed them, especially The Stand
Dean Koontz - Brother Odd is my favourite by him, not in terms of story but characters (Odd & Stormy)
C.S. Lewis

Naoki Urasawa

Oops. None of my favourites are women. I do read female authors but not as often as male authors. Tosca Lee is pretty amazing though.

One correction: I meant to say Dean Koontz' Odd Thomas, not Brother Odd (I actually haven't read the latter -yet).

@Grace-Like-Rain very awesome little Literary Corner! Never thought of making one myself as I usually just read before I fall asleep. Awesome idea though. I like how yours is put together. Looks very comfy indeed. And you have quite a decent collection of books!

Heh noticed the Great Gatsby cover picture in there. Great Gatsby is one of my all time favorite stand alone novels. When we were forced to read it in school I didn't like it much at all to be honest. Then I re-read it the following year and I really enjoyed it. Since then I read it at least once a year. Trully one of the greatest classics of American literature. Even though it is a fiction and set in the 1920s it speaks very much to American Society even today. Heh back in highschool my clique of friends bestowed upon us all 2 nicknames (you couldn't pick your own nickname). One nickname had to be insulting and one had to be something cool. My cool nickname was Gatsby so I always felt a strong connection to the story and character because of this.

Gatsby is a very cool nickname! And the story itself really gives us an apt picture of the pleasures and depravity of this world.
