The meaning of a name in life

Until about the age of 16, I didn't like my name It is very strange and rare and didn't understand why out of my 3 brothers and sisters, I was given an unusual name.
But after growing up, I realized how much meaning my mom had put into it
My name is Bogdana, It means God-given. My name literally consists of two words: "God" and "given".

Sometimes I can tell unbelieving people about God when I give my name, because they are always surprised and want to know what it means and why I was given that name.
But most often people are surprised why my name is Bogdana, since it is originally a male name, haha
Sometimes I feel that a name affects my life, I feel like a special daughter of God, I look back on my life and realize that my whole life is a gift from God naturally, I understand that all of this is not only because of the name, but I am sure that, for the most part, names influence a person's character and life.
Does your name affect your life, or have you had funny stories related to your name?

P.S. By the way, don't judge my grammar too harshly, as English is not my native language, and I'm still learning it (although it's been going on for a lifetime). I have to use a translator to communicate, but I'm more eloquent in my native language

I think it is a nice name actually. Foreign names to me sounds good regardless. But if it is god given , I see the reason now. It opens the door to let you tell people about your name, and god. So I think it’s a perfect name.

I realized this when I grew up, and now I really love my name, but as a child and teenager, I didn't want to stand out

Well don’t worry it’s nice, I tried pronouncing it out loud and it sounds good to me. My name is unique as well and not common so I feel ya. Been through the explaining many times lol. Look on the bright side it’s a good conversation starter.

I sometimes watch a Romanian tennis player with the surname Bogdana so the name doesn't pose any problem. I had no idea it meant what you say - but most names have some etymological root that gives them meaning. Today, most people only name their kids because of how they sound rather than to choose a meaning.

I met a 'Heather' in Israel and she said she hated her name - so I asked her what name she wanted and she said 'Hannah'. So we called her 'Hannah'. She's still Hannah, too, forty years later - I think the local church baulked at the change in name but people in the Bible did have their name changed at some point in their life (like 'Abram' to 'Abraham').

Your name could've been a whole lot worse sounding. For example, the Biblical name of Abishag (I Kings 1:3) was actually used as a Christian name in Victorian England. It means 'Father's Mistake' which has all sorts of possibilities as to what was going on.

I love unique names! Normally it seems a unique name is a unique person! I love your name. My name Michael in the Greek means- Who is like God, I never knew this till a year ago. I was tired of so many people named Michael and me. But not many people know what I know now. The meaning. So I'm glad to have this name. Cause no one is like God and when people call my name I think that. It's a constant reminder of who is in control. God ,believe that's lovely
