I like your imagery of the ring and the seal. I just wish it had a more grounded theological basis.
I think your replacement of circumcision is fundamentally flawed. Circumcision was exclusively for males. Christianity is for males and females for which circumcision is inappropriate.
Well, of course I think you're wrong. Circumcision was for Israel. Baptism is for the New Covenant and is for all.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. -- Gal 3:28 ESV

"Reformed theology sees baptism as the New Testament replacement of Old Testament circumcision."
Replacement is kind for kind or it is not "replacement."

I have heard discussion of all those 3 points, though certainly not universal agreement.

What are your views on Mark 16:9-20?
I have looked at the textural dispute on that passage, and for my part concluded that it is a legitimate part of the Bible.
The signs mentioned in v.17 &18 were performed by the apostles, and there is no suggestion that are to be performed by every believing individual.
V.16 "Whosoever believes and is baptized.." has been used to teach baptisimal regeneration, but I would consider this a distortion of the words, because the teaching does not harmonize with the rest of the Bible.
Wrong, IMHO. There is no such thing as "baptismal regeneration." If you claim to believe in Jesus and refuse baptism then you are not compliant with Jesus. More importantly, for most you are more dedicate to that fat Luder vs Jesus Christ. Baptism, as described by Paul in Romans is how we overcome the power of death. In Jesus words, "He who is baptised and repents is "already saved." Those who reject the Holy Spirit message on Pentecost that launched authentic Christianity included repentance and baptism. We live in a 21st century world that says you are saved by what you "believe." 4,000 other Christians see and demand another "interpretation," Paul on trial for his life testified that, "I preached repentance and works worthy of repentance. Oh

In general, have a problem hearing Martin Luder's words over and over again as if repeating them make them gospel. 21st century Protestant and non-denominational Christianity (which I am a part) continue to bifurcate humanity into a stand alone mind and a stand alone human body which we continue to claim we own and is of no concern of God's. Thus we parse the New Testament for anything that relieves us of any non-mental conversion. Thus, God has no interest and no claim on anything but our brains where we get save by claiming belief. In reality there is no such thing salvation by belief, in our dogmas, catechisms, creeds and popular culture compliance. We believe that somehow our minds contain our souls thus it is logical to say we are saved by what is in our mind. How convenient. A head nod to a 60 pulpit prayer and we have complied fully with the entire will of God....

The sad truth is that God created us mind and body. We an undivided whole. Thus we do not get to claim saving faith in our minds and live like we damn well please because any attempt to obey any physical thing is heretical as it reeks of "works based salvation."

The key to 21st century Protestant and ND Christianity is that we believe God's only interest is in what we think, what dogmas we support. The Gospel Truth is that Christ came to save the entire person. He came to save humanity not just human brains.

Just like all parents know, when you ask a child to do something you expect them to do more than say, "Yeah, I believe that." Christians have been asked to accept the Power of the Holy Spirit to change our lives, not just change some thoughts. We all crave salvation, but we stubbornly resist conversion. If we think right we don't have to live right. That is unspoken reality on the ground,

The apostle Paul makes it clear what you may think of as "saving grace" is just noise, IF you are not fully loving. As we all know, loving is defined by our actions over time. Not by the fact we say the words or have a momentary emotion. If we are not moving toward being the loving, walking, kneeling, praying, healing, repenting and source of reconciliation of our leader, Jesus the Christ, then all the 16th century theological excuses we have invented to deny God the ownership of our life is in vain. Read Matthew 25 again,
Here is Jesus's description of his disciple's conversion.

Replacement is not required to be kind for kind, but only one thing for another.
Nothing in the Hebrew Bible envisioned immersion in water as anything but purifying the body. In no sense did they see it as anything to do with remission of sins, cleansing of the soul or being born again. It's like saying it rained in those olden days and rain today just a like for like reality. Saving the body from dirt is not a like for like comparison of baptism for the remission of sins or even a watered down semi-confession of faith.

You've missed the point. Yes, we died spiritually in Adam and that was the state in which we were born. God has to remove the old, dead spirit in order to replace it with the new, live spirit. That's what it means to be born again. We are crucified with Christ. This is not symbolic. The spirit man is crucified. We do not physically die, obviously, neither does the soul die. The old, dead spirit dies. This, for the believer, is the second death. We are then raised to new life in Christ.

What do you do with the dead? You bury them. That is through baptism.

"Born once, die twice, born twice, die once" Martin Luther.

If we die with Christ in this life, then we are raised with Christ to new, eternal life. Those who reject Christ are subject to the second death. Death does not mean the end of existence. It is separation from God. The second death for the lost means eternal separation, a Christ-less eternity.

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

…Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-7, 16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:11-12‬ ‭

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:19-

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭

so some verses are legitimate but others aren’t ? Let’s see if there’s any harmony regarding baptism

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Matthews commission to the apostles
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

mark

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The first thing Peter tells them to do after he receives the power of the Holy Ghost and starts speaking by the spirit when he’s asked plainly by them “ what do we need to do ?”

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:37-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But surely they didn’t baptize in water that’s “only John before the cross “

“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Baptism is misunderstood but yet it’s well explained and easy to see in the doctrine

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism,

wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:11-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sin requires death . All who have sinned owe death thier lives by gods word

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when jesus died for our sins it fulfilled that word of requirement for the sinners who repent and believe the gospel. Baptism in his name ( who died for our sins ) is about inclusion in his death , burial and resurrection . Which is the means of mans regeneration not baptism but the reason we act in faith and get baptized . Because we believe that Jesus death paid for our sins and his resurrection brings our justification . Baptism is about making the decision to be included in that not because we want to show our faith to others ot anything but because Gods word tells believers what baptism means ,

“so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

We can hear this and reject it and say “ baptism has nothing to do with what that says …. But really it makes sense why the believer is confessing thier sins and then being buried in water in Jesus name , then bieng raised back up in his name when they are baptized .

If baptism is about remission of sins in Jesus name as the Bible states , and if baptism is about being included in his death for our sins as the Bible states then it sort of is part of the Christian regeneration process we need to be recognized as having died with Christ …… in order to change and become who we are in him for eternal life

of we get past the idea that there is a different baptism other than the one explained and repetetively shown in scripture that states “ there’s one baptism “

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4-5, 9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Remission of sins …

“God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:2-4, 6-7‬ ‭

because we are baptized into his death for our sins we’ve been set free from sin and it’s former dominion over us

“And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭22:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Baptism is really well explained and surely is about remission of sins in Christs name who died to remit them that Hebrew Bible must be totally different from the other versions in the world if it doesn’t even speak of baptism for remission of sins

I'm not Jewish. Water baptism is the sign and seal of the New Covenant. It's the physical thing that represents the spiritual thing.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”

Interesting, if novel,

"We live in a 21st century world that says you are saved by what you "believe." 4,000 other Christians see and demand another "interpretation..."
To whom do you attribute this quote? Also, there aren't 4,000 Christian denominations. That's a lie of Rome, though they usually say there are many more.

Well we can start with that famous Liar of Rome, Google: There are an estimated 47,000 to 50,000 Christian denominations in the world. This high number, which has grown significantly from around 2,000 in 1900, is largely due to the rapid fragmentation of Protestantism, the rise of Pentecostalism, and the independence of various churches worldwide. Estimates suggest there are over 200 distinctly named Christian denominations in the United States, along with thousands of independent, non-denominational churches.

so some verses are legitimate but others aren’t ? Let’s see if there’s any harmony regarding baptism

I consider mark 16 9-20 a LEGITIMATE part of scripture.
It seems that a couple of people have misunderstood me on that.

I have heard some unsolvable debates between Baptists and Prebyterians on this passage about how deep the water was and what they did in there, ie sprinkling pouring or full immersion.
How doe anybody know?
"Into" (eis) does not mean under, but it could??

Well how about if we consider another example of an apostle baptizing a believer in water . this further example sort of doesn’t leave that debate as open

‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

you know who’s baptism that resembles ?

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭

See how Jesus baptism was done in water then he received the spirit from heaven and then the voice announced “ this is my son in whom I’m well pleased ?”

look at what’s taught about baptism later by the apostles

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

remember how the voice says “ this is my son in whom I’m well pleased just as Jesus is emerging ?

“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. …..And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:26-27, 29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They teach an aweful lot about what baptism means but often we argue about sinple things like “ was water involved in the operation of baptism ? “ or did they actually submerge people ? Or just drop some water ? Or we say “ we aren’t saved by water !!” …… in order to avoid what it is teaching us in the actual bibles doctrine baptism means for us I mean just look at how valuable this could be if we heard and believed it letting it change our thinking

“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the teaching that has now been given to you. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-7, 11-14, 16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If I was baptized , this can be very very valuable to me if I learn and accept what it’s teaching baptism means according to Gods word ( scripture ) in ot it’s promising freedom from sins dominion and rule over our lives . It’s telling us that through baptism in his name , we are being joined together with him in death , and also resurrection !!!! It’s telling us that we can consider our old self dead with him and our new self alive and being raised up with him through faith

It’s telling us we can choose to serve gods will now and leave sins grasp upon us behind sins power to cause us to act against even our own correct thinking and Will at times corrupting the mind and heart leading men astray …..

baptism is a subject all about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and it’s application to the believer in him !!!
