This thread is sure enough to make your eyes bleed. What's sure enough to me is that if I keep my eyes on Christ my salvation is assured. Outside of Christ there is no guarantee. Weather a "proclaiming Christian" is in Christ or still out of Christ is a matter of God to determine.
Christ transforms us by giving us a new identity... we are new creations in Christ...we have a new heart with a new spirit created in righteousness and holiness....it's all Him...

As for the discussion on bringing up the book of Galatians why must we only go by half of what Paul said to them, or even just a one or a couple scriptures.
Galatians 5 Paul leaves off like he always does with warnings and states that if a person continues in doing the works of the flesh (giving the list) that those "will not" inherit the kingdom of God.
It does not get any clearer then that from Paul as he again is talking about walking in the Spirit vs. walking in the flesh as he did in Romans 8.
Walking in the Spirit leads to eternal life, but walking by the flesh leads to judgment and the lake of fire !!!

Yes, there is no guarantee outside of Christ. That includes you and your thinking you are assuring your salvation by you keeping your eyes on Christ.
This is a serious question. Just exactly how do you "follow Him"? What does it look like as you go through your day?
And walking accordingly means following the one who did the transformation, not following our new identity.

Well, that is the faulty premise of self-salvation. It's He who holds onto us, not "we" who hold onto to Him.
"for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” Hebrews 13:5
"And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand." John 10:28
"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand." John 10:29
No one includes "we".

You must believe in universalism. Either that or God simply chooses those who He wants saved or doesn't want saved (that it's not up to one's individual choice to believe or not). If so, ok, God plays favorites according to you.
That's the anchor. He won't preempt your will, though, to make you hold onto it. It's always there for those who want it and are willing to do his will.

The failure to "see" our union in Christ in our inner man is what causes this self-effort works based living that is really doing things in our flesh....."we" are doing .."we" are doing the righteous deeds..so "we" are righteous.....that is different then "seeing ourselves in Christ" and letting His life flow through and in us to do good deeds/works...
Our identity is Christ in us.
Hence = self-focused or Christ-focused....big difference between the two mindsets...

One must recognize their own sin and agree with God before one can ask for and receive the free gift of salvation. You are implying that you had nothing to with your salvation. You didn't see your sin, you didn't repent, you didn't ask for salvation, this was all done for you.
