A recent find on Netflix was Derry Girls. That was hilarious. I could watch that one again. Set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
I love The Office so much that I own a box set of DVDs of one of the seasons. I think it's season 1 or 2. It's been years since I've watched it though. My favorite show was Dexter (the original series), a close second is Breaking Bad. I also own a box set of King of Queens (comedy) and Reno 911 (comedy). I don't watch tv anymore though. The last show I watched was Stranger Things, but only watched the first few seasons. Besides that I watched some Korean dramas. Crash Landing was soooo good. There's a few others but probably not worth mentioning here.
I didn't watch TV during that decade, but have seen some really funny scenes on YouTube.

Murder she wrote was Mom's favorite for years. She and I would hang out together and watch that, Quincy, Hill Street Blues while eating Scotto Pizza with the works! I sure miss those times.

During covid I watched the whole of Friends. I think I liked it up to season 6, then it started de-railing, but still good fun. I was in my twenties when it first aired so the right age for it. I will dig up my old Friends thread. I recently found a bag that said 'You're my Lobster' on it...and I love Lobsters, so I just had to buy it (was only $5) . If you know the reference...!

I sometimes wish others liked the same books and tv shows I watched so we can have something to talk about but that's rare now as everyone is into different things. I mean we all love Jesus, but even those who read the Bible can get into arguments about it and sometimes it's not fun to be like...on the receiving end of 'your interpretation of the Bible is totally wrong! I'm the only correct one here' attitude. That's why sometimes I ignore people. I don't need that stress in my life.

We guys would get into arguments over Mcgyvr vs The Equalizer. My buddies really got mad at me and resented that I was an Equalizer fan but they were into McGyver. It was as bad as dudes with sports team rivals. Lol
I don't think we had that show Equalizer here.
On the Simpsons, was it Patty or Selma or both were the big fans of MacGyver. Marge's spinster twin sisters.
Marge's twin sisters lived in an apartment block called 'Spinster City' lol. A play on 'Spin City' which was a sitcom. I think Michael J Fox was in it. I loved Micheal J Fox in Back to the Future. He was also in Who's the Boss I think...
No it wasn't. What was I thinking..he was in another sitcom. Google is my friend...Family Ties.
A funny movie about offices starred Jennifer Aniston called 'Horrible Bosses'. She was also in 'Office Space'. I think that was the best one she did, aside from 'The good girl' where she played like a Walmart employee.

That goes back a ways! I wish we could simply get in a car and do that today.
Some of those popular american sitcoms of the 80s were kinda formulaic, but they were good comedy.
Full House I remember watching, mostly for Stephanie Tanner (wisecracking middle child) and the Olsen Twins, who were adorably cute playing Michelle, starting from only 6 months old! Imagine, being on tv that young. That's younger than Shirley Temple.
John Stamos was also a heartthrob in the day and looks like he hasn't aged.
There was a reboot called Fuller House and all the cast returned save the Olsen Twins. Kimmy I remember being funny but she was sooo bullied on the show for being weird.
The Olsen twins are now multi-millionaires because they had all these deals that cashed in on their youth - clothing lines, merch, tv series, books, you name it they had it. I looked them up not long ago only to find one of them had an ED, and they chainsmoked cigarettes, both got married, one divorced, one had a child...and they would never go back to film and tv ever again.
When they turned 18 they had these online pervs literally counting down to the time they turned 18 and were 'legal'.
Candace Cameron (Bure) got married, and with her brother Kirk Cameron, represented a kind of evangelistic christianity that a lot of people abhor, I mean, they are well meaning and all, but I think it grated on a lot of people. Candace to me seems ok, but lots of people really do NOT like Kirk Cameron, who was a bit full of it. I read his memoir and I tend to agree.

I've seen old reruns when the Olson's were cute little 4 year olds. That must've been one of the longest lasting series.
It was sad to see them grown up on covers of tabloids while waiting in the grocery store lines. I forgot all about Kirk Cameron being on the show.
I watched some of his movies, but disagreed with his doctrine of evangelism and his preacher Ray Comfort.

His sister Candace was on Full House.
I don't remember watching Growing Pains for too long. Kirk Cameron just seemed like a brat to me. I couldn't tell if it was his character or that's just the way he was.
