A few days ago, I wrote a blog regarding judging others (you can read it here). I have found myself in the most curious of situations of late where stating my opinion about random things gets people up in arms. You can only wonder why it would even matter. Yet, it apparently does.
So, here's the issue: why should the opinion holders truly shake you up so much? For me, I get extremely argumentative when lies are being told, lies that can damage or hinder someone in their walk with the Lord. That, to me, is worth arguing over and debating. But when someone corrects someone else's grammar...really? Come on, folks. We can disagree about Scripture by lying to ourselves, but the rules of grammar are finite. Aren't they?
Why does it matter is your should be you're and a statement is made stating as much? Why should it matter if I don't agree with something you said and so have stated my opinion, which is contrary to yours? Why is it such a big deal to people if someone's opinion doesn't match their own?
In this day and age, with political correctness going far into the realm of insanity, one can't dare say anything against popular opinion or they will be kicked out of the country. Or, at least the chat room. And dare you say you don't agree with abortion or homosexuality...even in the slightest way...you are a woman hater and a homophobe.
Here's the deal, folks. As it is with "judging", you are giving people way too much power over you and your life. I mean, really, what does their opinion truly change in your life, except for maybe your mood? And that is only because you let it!
Do the opinion holders rule your life? Be very careful how much power you give others over your own joy and peace and salvation because, truly, you are the one making the ultimate choices in your life. Live for Christ, stand for truth, be teachable and correctable...be a true disciple of Christ...and stop handing power over to strangers.
