The Queen of heaven
In the book of Jeremiah
Is the only place in the Bible
Where it is written
Of the Queen of heaven.
Who is this Queen of heaven
In the book of Jeremiah?
Inanna is the queen of heaven. She was a fertility goddess as well as love and war. She was worshiped in 3 forms as princess as well as morning and evening. So the worship of Venus is associated with her as Venus has two phases. She was a Sumerian goddess. However, that is where most gods and goddess start. As the bible says and they journeyed from the east and found a plain in Shinar.
At the tower the folks were divided by their new tongues and left off and began to repopulate different parts of the earth. Ashur went out and settled of course the northern part of Mesopotamia. They first were known as the Akkadians then later Assyrians. However, as folks left after Babel you see the same gods and goddess' show back up as in Sumer just with different names because the dividing of language. So Inanna became Ishtar in Akkad and Assyria.
You also will see as other kingdoms conquered other kingdoms the same god or goddess now began to be called by the name of the conquer.
An, was a sky god in Sumer but in Canaan he was called Baal. Baal which means lord and husband becomes to be more of a general term for a god. So you begin to see names likes Ball- Hamon in Tyre and Sidon. Which is the same god Moloch. They called him Hamon in Phoenicia because Hamon is Ammon. You have Beelzebub as well as Baal Peor. They would oft carry the name of the city or place that god was prevalent and his worship followed.
They believed that the very land was owned by the god and his sacred place he made his abode. Why when Naaman the Syrian was healed of leprosy he asked that he be able to take back dirt from Israel. He according to his culture would be acknowledging that the God of Israel was over all. So he would take the dirt back and place it in whatever area he would worship God. So he would kneel down on it for prayers and perform other means of worship on it. Doing so to acknowledge that God was the one true God.
Also why when the Ark made the statue of Dagon fall over and break in pieces the bible mentions that the Philistines would not walk on that spot of ground. They are recognizing that Dagon was defeated by the God of Israel so that area of land now belonged to the God of Israel so they would avoid stepping on it.
So much more but the gods and goddess at least early pantheons have a connection to the early gods in Sumer but changed names as the peoples languages was changed.
