It occurs to Me how much better we can know the lord through the gospel account of his time on earth among us , and how the epistles are wonderful and necassary but they cannot replace the gospels
the epistles preach a lot about the gospel and refer a lot to the gospel and Jesus Christ , but the account of his interactions with people his answers to thier questions .
How he treated known sinners who approached him in humility and self righteous people approaching him in pride. What he actually taught mankind when walking among us.
who did he rebuke ? Who did he approve ? What did God teach to man when he walked among them ? How did he treat the “ low “ of the world , and how did he treat the “ high “ of the world ?
his parables envoking considerations and time spent pondering in our hearts his word and promise of eternal life and the things of his glorious eternal kingdom that doesn’t end with death for believers.
knowing Jesus is so much clearer by. Believing the gospel accounts from his birth through his life and anointing to preach the truth ( the gospel ) to the world and spread it through believing Israel into all nations.
he is so much more knowable when you learn about his interactions among mankind what’s important to him and what is secondary and also what is not acceptable and must be left behind and isn’t allowed into his kingdom eternal
thanks to the lord Jesus intercession
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV
We have something to look forward to when we part the flesh on our last day
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
John 3:5-6
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63 KJV
When we see Jesus saving sinners from condemnation like John chapter 8 , or hear his parables like the wayward younger son who wastes his inheritance in sinful living but relents and returns to his waiting , loving father who runs out to
Meet him when he turns toward home
he finds the fathers embrace and kiss and care and provision again even before he reaches home because he turns in repentance toward home remembering his fathers company
the epistles don’t offer the same knowledge of Jesus Christ as tbt eye witness accounts of his life and interactions with mankind of all different sorts .
It doesn’t convey the same compassion he had towards sinners or same doctrine he taught of spirit and truth pride , lust , greed , envy and coveting , there’s so much we can’t learn from the epistles about Jesus himself his countenance and how he treated us in person
this really is just some thoughts and encouragement to accept the things in the four gospels Matthew , mark , Luke and John as if they are God making himself known to us and establishing a point of relationship through this knowledge of him revealed in Jesus Christ.
look at them as if God is presenting himself to you so you can believe in and know him . Notice how he was to people which types of people accepted him and which types rejected him
notice how truly forgiving and compassionate he was to the people who came to him , how he was always able and willing to hear them and answer with power .
How he truly loved and healed and lived among the people compassionately long before he died for them there’s such a value in learning of the short time God spent among us revealed in full sight in Jesus Christ we can know him and believe all the more just by believing the gospel accounts of his life and time spent among us in the body
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true,
and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
1 John 5:20 KJV
The gospel isn’t a list of rules but an account of Gods time spent teaching us the gospel and eternal kingdom were meant to inherit who believe . His teachings are a way of belief a renewing of our spirit and life’s compass through hearing and believing we can come to know Gods will
