Over the last 20 years or so, I've discovered how powerful a single prayer can really be. I was taught in Sunday school to pray when I was worried or scared, and so I did. My grandmother taught me to pray for others, and so I did. My mother taught me to pray when I was confused, and so I did.

My selfish human nature taught me to pray when I wanted something, and so I did.

The amazing thing is that looking back, I know God not only heard each prayer, but answered them.

Maybe I didn't always get the answer I wanted. Maybe the answer didn't come clearly or audibly.

The important thing is, the answer DID come; sometimes quickly, sometimes not for 5 years, but still it came.

Some people would call it coincidence, others accident, still others perhaps the "natural order" of things, or maybe "fate".

I don't believe that. I believe God listens to us all, and that He has us in the palm of His hand.

I feel sad for people when I hear them complaining that God must hate them, because He never answers their prayers. I also don't believe them- just because God doesn't immediately give us what we want doesn't mean the answer isn't there or on its way.

I also believe that many times, the answer is right in front of us, we just have to open our eyes to see it.

If you have faith as small as a mustard seed...

I agree, no matter what, even though God is mighty, you shoudl not rely on him all the time. It will not be done over night but he hears your prayer and he is with you, all around us as well. he knows when time can get rough, but he treats you with dignity after you have been through the rough patches, that explains you getting through the rough parts and then having good patches after. God's way of saying thank you

Same as it is when having faith, the more you water your seed of faith, and takes care of it, the more and larger it will grow. And then again; The more faith you let grow within you, the more you are able to as well as open for seeing more of God's blessings and answers to your given prayers and cries. :)

Yeah its truly wonderful.

someone told me I should keep a prayer journal and record whenever God answers my prayers.

I think that would take up to many volumes because I feel like my whole life is an answered prayer and everything God gives me is a blessing.

You forgot to include prayers where you just thank and praise God for everything. We to often only pray when we need things but we should also remember to pray when we are thankful and feeling blessed.

You're right about thanking and praising God. I thank God as often as I remember (surprisingly often, considering the scattered state of my mind on any given day :D ) for the abundance he's given me. Thank you, Jesus! :) :) :)

Hmm...yeah, I had waaay too much coffee.
