The Power of the Prayer of Faith (Part 2):
Remembering:
Now that we know that it is the prayer of Jesus' faith that has power to save and cure, it comes the question: "what this mean?".
This signifies that we ought to pray as if it was Jesus who was praying in the situation that we are in, or, to be more precise, we have to allow that Jesus uses us to pray to the Father through us so that His will (and not ours) can be done (see Matt 26:42; Luke 22:42).
In the case of James 5, what is the will of the Creator? Generate a family of pious people (Mal 2:15), a perfectly united people (see Rom 12:16; 15:6; 1Cor 1:10; Phil 4:2).
It is not in vain that, in James 5, it is mentioned ("anointing him with oil", "if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another"). Pay attention to the mention of the sin. Many people misunderstand the question of the sin.
What are the consequences of the sin?
That is to say, the sin brings forth separation. Therefore, if we aren’t getting close to people that Jesus put around us, even if we are not doing any harm against any of them, we are sinning and our preaching is in vain:
As you can see, the aim of the proclamation of the Holy Scripture is to get more people in order to keep in touch with the Creator. Furthermore:
So, Jesus Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness (1 Peter 2:24). In other words, the desire of the Creator is that we seek out the peace with all men (Romans 12:18), without never swerve in the horizontal or vertical. That is to say, we can’t veer from the commandments of Jesus because the person is obnoxious unto our eyes or the situation that they bring to us is disgusting; neither we can’t extol anybody in order to ingratiate to them, nor humble them in order to become great in our eyes and theirs.
We need to keep our integrity, as well as the integrity of Jesus and His Word so that we can be truly united to them. Hence James instructs the brethren to call the elders. After all, only people mature in the faith is able to work the differences and disagreements between people, as well as cope with the sin in the community so that, instead of the sinners being ostracized, they can be helped by the congregation and, thus, they can be saved and included in the body (see 1Corinthians 12:22-25).
Abridging: prayer of the faith is to pray for someone in order to be one with this person, so that Jesus can carry their sins through us and they can be saved through the sufferings of Christ for His body in us" (Phil 1:29).
Pray without this purport is an empty prayer.
Finally, note that the excerpt start “Is any among you afflicted?” and finish “that you may be healed”. That is to say, the prayer of faith is so powerful that, not only heals the person for whom we are praying, but heal everyone that is praying for this person.
