I want a large protected area where the animals have more rights than the humans who (freely choose to) enter it

To me, people trump animals almost every time. However, this does not excuse animal cruelty. If you're mean or cruel to an animal, you should be punished.

I think humans who do cruelty to animals should undergo forced psychological evaluation... who knows when they'll do it to a human?

It take some kind of evil to be cruel to animals. Evil and greed are 2 things I will never understand.

well, people grow up with and in it, so they get corrupted
if you tear the wings of bugs and no- one tells you it's wrong, perhaps you boil a frog the next time... and on it goes
