4Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.”

So far, we saw the first seal being opened as the rider on the white horse which symbolically represents the Antichrist, where he establishes that seven year covenant with Israel. Then at the sounding of the 5[SUP]th[/SUP] trumpet around the middle of that seven years, that angel of the Abyss, the beast, will be released being the power behind the antichrist and killing the two witnesses, and causing the sacrifices and offerings to cease, and having that abomination set up, where he will then stand in the temple proclaiming himself to be God or anything that is called God or worshiped. Therefore, this first seal, the revealing of the Antichrist, will impact the entire seven years until Christ returns to the earth to end the age at its completion.
Now we have the Lamb/Jesus opening the second seal and the second living being calling out the rider on a red horse. This rider is said to be given permission to take peace from the earth so that people kill one another. The reference to him being given a “large sword” would suggest that the peace being taken away would be a large campaign, affecting the entire earth.
Regarding peace being taken from the earth and the result being people killing one another, I don’t believe that this is only restricted to referring to the armies of nations, but may affect all people in general.
Regarding the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] seals, I believe that Jesus refers to them in the Olivet Discourse when he is telling his disciples about the signs that will take place leading up to his return to end the age, as demonstrated below:
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” - Matthew 24:7-8
So in the scripture above, the mention of “nation rising against nation” would be represented by the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] seal where peace is taken from the earth and where mankind kills one another. Following that and in the same order as listed in Revelation, is the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] seal rider on the black horse representing the famine referred to here in Matthew 24:7.

Famines and earthquakes = 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] seal rider representing world wide famine
Here in Matthew Jesus is then describing the early part of the tribulation period with his mention of the setting up of the abomination where He quotes from Daniel 9:27 in Matt.24:15, representing the middle of the seven years, with Matthew 24:29-31 representing his return to the earth to end the age as representing the end of the seven years. So far as a result of the opening of the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] and 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] seals, we have the following:
· The revealing of the antichrist and all that he is going to perform during that entire seven years.
· The rider on the red horse taking peace from the earth so that people kill one another, which will affect the inhabitants of the entire world.
Keep these events that will have already taken place fresh in your mind as we continue to go through the rest of the seals, trumpets and bowls so that you can get the big picture of the reality of the state of the Earth during that time of wrath as all of these events are taking place, one after another and their combined world wide results.
The seals, trumpets and bowls will be like a woman having birth pains. Just as a woman in labor has her birth pains increasing in intensity and growing closer together until she gives birth, so also will be the events of the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments, where the events of wrath will continue to become more intense and closer together leading up to the end.
