Why do sheep need a shepherd?

Sheep are defenseless animals, they are utterly helpless against wolves, bears, lions, robbers and so on. Sheep are not independent [FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif]travelors, they must have a human conductor. hey cannot go to predetermined places by themselves. They cannot start in the morning in search of pasture and then come home at the evening time, they have apparently no sense of direction. The sheep is very incapable and docile. Where the shepherd leads, the sheep follows the sheep knows that it must depend on the shepherd. [/FONT][/FONT]

In psalm 23, David says " The Lord is my shepherd, i shall not be in want" there are times when we feel challenged and we feel as if we wont make it, but if our anchor holds on Jesus then we will be o.k..
