Help!

i have recently been assigned The Shining by Stephen King
yet i feel uneasy about it
i couldnt bring myself to even start it

wat should i do?
should i tell my teacher "i cant read this book"
or should i read it but pray before reading?
 
Just out of curiosity, why do you feel like it would be wrong for you to read it? I mean it's a fiction book......I wouldn't really consider it to be anti-Christian. But I guess if you really feel like it's gonna cause a problem in your spiritual walk, just talk to your teacher and say you'd prefer to read a different book and see if there's any way your assignment can be changed.
 
Have your mom write your teacher a note saying she does not want you to read that book, and to please assign you an alternative reading assignment if possible. Worked when my mom did it... although I didn't really ask my mom to write a note. She kind of did that on her own. I was just complaining about the book and next thing I knew I had an alternative reading assignment.

i took the first one and im gonna read seabiscuit now
the shining just left me in spiritual unrest because of all the talke about demon possesions and stuff
 
... if talk about demon posession puts you in a state of unrest I would suggest you do not read the Darkness Series by Peretti. I don't see what could be so bad about reading facts of life, though. People do get possessed by demons, so why would that put you in a state of spiritual unrest?
 
Your spiritual state is between you and God. If you feel uneasy and that God is calling you to avoid it, then do it.
 
agreed ...if spiritually ur uneasy about it..theres a reason for it...then dont read it..spiritual discernment is a gift from God , dont override it..:)
