Why did Officer Darren Wilson of the Ferguson, Missouri Police Department pump six rounds into the body and head of an unarmed black teenager? That's the question that most in the black community want answered. And, that's the question that only Darren Wilson can and should answer, in a court of law.
In a high profile case such as this, a trial is necessary in order to have an open display of all the facts.
Now, with that said, you must understand that Michael Brown was no Mickey Rooney. He stood 6' 4” tall and weighed in at 292 pounds – a man by any standard. And, he was angry - very angry. He had beaten the Officer senseless and tried to take his weapon.
Anyone who knows anything about firearms knows that in order to fire a hand held weapon with any accuracy you have to "squeeeeze" (pun intended) the trigger – not pull it. That can be time consuming.
Likewise, anyone who has ever received a blow to one eye knows that the other eye will become out of focus, causing a blurred vision.
Okay now, stay with me on this. A man the size of Michael Brown, armed or unarmed, charging at someone with the intent to do bodily harm is a clear and present danger to that person. Let's be realistic and not question that. I know that's hard for liberals to understand, but it's a fact.
No one knows the mindset of Darren Wilson at the time of the shooting, but a prudent man, in pain, with blurred vision and hell bent on protecting his own life would empty his weapon as best and as quickly as possible in an attempt to: (1) stop his would be assailant if he could and (2) have an empty weapon if he couldn't.
Because of a broken eye socket Darren Wilson may not have been able to hit Michael Brown exactly where he intended, but hitting him anywhere would be better than allowing Brown to get his hand on a loaded gun.
