No, Paul was outward Jew and not an inward Jew. Outward Jews looked to be justified by the Law (Pharisees, etc.). Inward Jews (like the disciples) followed their Messiah. Paul was not a follower of Jesus in the beginning. Jesus had to directly confront Him. He essentially asked Paul why was he persecuting His people; Also, Paul stood by as they were stoning Steven, too.

Do you understand the phrase "different situation" or the difference between "persecution and mass killing for no reason". I am serious do you understand the difference?

Yes, I realize the difference, but where in the New Testament does it command us to defend ourselves?

You are diverting away from the point I made. The point is that if you were a Christian back then, and Saul (Paul) just persecuted your family, would you have the right to kill him in self defense? My point being is that if you were set out to use lethal force against Saul so as to protect your family in self defense, would it have been in God's will? I say not. Because Saul turned out to be a great Christian leader.

In other words, I am laying my life on the line to tell this person about Jesus when I know they could kill me. But I shoot them in the head, then they can't know about Jesus. That's what this is all about.

Is it? because I thought you were even against punching them. i'm pretty sure you could tell someone about Jesus after they woke up. This is also about using physical force to save an innocents life (someone else who may not know God) and of the two they weren't the ones who wanted this.

Jesus said not to resist evil, so don't pull a rapist off your wife. In fact, don't pray or preach, as this also can be construed as resistance to evil.

Furthermore, Jesus said if your enemy is hungry give him something to eat, so after he's done raping your wife, make him a sandwich.

If it sounds ludicrous- it is. The whole idea that God would want us to do nothing is Ludicrous. If it seems wrong that JD is being sarcastic regarding this whole situation just keep in mind how wrong it is to believe that we as christians should do nothing!. What JD has accurately shown is that man can twist scripture to fit his view. It's not that far off from what Jason is saying. Love your enemies, don't deny anyone what they ask of you. JD is showing how Jason is taking these words out of context. JD was intentionally trying to show you just how ridiculous this is.. I think he did a good job.

I sympathize with your frustration, and really I just wanted to use Jason's reasoning as an example. For him, now, it's now about saving Paul, since he did some things that may have warranted self-defense. LOL.

It's as if God just couldn't get by without Paul. Thinking about it, I wonder if someone would have stepped up and saved Steven what pearls of wisdom he may have shared with the world. It's a silly moot point, though. God doesn't need people, people need God.

And really I just wanted to expose this movement for what it really is, and what the people caught up in it are really like. They're not the compassionate saints they claim to me, and many of them are quite heartless and vile. Others, not so much, and normally when you reason with those they'll pull back on their pacifism.

I didn't construe anybody making light of rape, rather using some heinous crime like this an example of the absurdity of such pacifism, when it's really self righteousness taken to an immoral extreme of being careless of others, which is not love. Bear in mind, plain scripture and simple reason were getting nowhere, this whole discussion reaching absurdity, my opinion yesterday the discussion was had, then.

I do understand your point, there are rape victims on here, and you know what I would think offends them the most? christians saying they shouldn't defend themselves, nor should other christians defend them. That would offend me and DOES offend me more than I could ever describe.

It offends me to no end thinking that any Christian could be that callous not to help someone in a situation of life and death.
