I am sorry Dcon but shoot to kill first is not the way of the Lord.
He believes in punishment ( imprisonment ), minister to, and forgiveness.
It is a very terrible thing to see a defenseless child getting attacked or raped bay a wicked man/woman, but you can stop it if you see it happening in other ways then killing.
Thinking with a mind of always shoot to kill is showing signs of hatred in your heart, which is not the Lords way.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Love your enemy, and do good to them.
Talk to the hand dude and realize how ridiculous your statement is in light of a wicked man raping and or murdering a little defenseless child...TAKE MORE TAHN 2 SECONDS to think about what you say as your statement looks very foolish!
And on top of that your judgment of my heart is a place or position you have no authority to judge......SERIOUS sometimes your ability to think you can judge my motives and or heart amazes the crap out of me.

Maybe not your most effective weapons, if you ask me. I keep a bedside laptop, with the "Who Killed Goliath?" thread displayed. Flash that screen, and either an intruder will immediately flee, or, like many a criminal, they'll be dumb enough to get sucked into the discussion, while you call the police.
I know a lot of you are thinking me a monster, are asking, "Why not just shoot him?"
It's really simple, if I can get away with not killing the man so be it. But if the man is 80 yards away dragging my son by the arm into the brush ignoring my warnings, if I have a rifle, I'm aiming just above center mass and I'm going to go and get my child.

You do have a point. You should never shoot to kill. The reason one might find themselves in a shooting situation is to stop the commission of a crime which involves serious bodily injury or death to you or someone else. If after being shot the suspect stops, secure the scene render first aid if possible. But if suspect happens to die in the process thats life, he should have stayed home.

I am not judging you, I am just saying there are other ways to stop some one then in a raping situation then to kill first.
Jesus even said His way seems foolish to those who do not want to change to walk like He said to.
Jesus believes in punishment ( disciplinary action ), He also believes in correction, and the biggest forgiveness.
If you go by a shoot to kill first or only mentality, then you deny that person the chance at correction and you show no love and forgiveness.
If you however do go by kill first, you have just made a judgment call on that person.
We are called to fight a spiritual war, not a physical war because we do not truly know the heart of a person.
Yes some sins in our eyes are worse than others, but if you want to make a death judgment call on some one for their sin then you must accept to have judgment of death put on you as well for Jesus says;
Matthew 7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Matthew 6:15
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
I am sorry, but I do as our Lord tells us to do.
Then why does one need the gun to shoot people's heads off or to train their fists to be like deadly vipers? If God is truly sovereign and IN CONTROL, He can protect you and anyone you care about if it is His plan and will.

Yes you are right, and that is the point I made before.
Killing should never be the first option if it can be avoided. If you can stop a situation with out killing a person then that is how you are to go. A kill first and only mentality has no love, forgiveness, and ministering to the individual that we are told to do by our Lord.
Jesus never says in scripture love only this group of people, or forgive unless they do this or that.
He forgives all sins, and in return we are to forgive others no matter what sins they do.
See, you can only point to the Old Testament to make your case. The Law of Moses and God's commands to execute Judgment were for Israel and not the church. God did not at any point tell the apostles to destroy such and such nation, etc. Yes, God did sanction war for His people at one point in time; And yes, it is true that the saints (in spirit form) will one day follow Jesus into battle at His 2nd Coming; But that does not mean Jesus wants us to fight while we are alive in these physical bodies under the New Testament, though. No such command was given for us to make war physically or to use lethal force if attacked. On the contrary, the exact opposite commands are given by our Lord Jesus Christ.

I will tell you why Jason.
It is because each and every one of us in some way has doubts in our heart.
The Lord our God works through us to help others because of that doubt. You will see some that say God doesn't do this any more ( doubt ), you can not make a mountain move or a tree wither just by saying it do so in Jesus names ( doubt ).
Because of this doubt they then turn and say miracles or gifts have ceased, but the bible clearly says the gifts don't cease tell He who is perfect comes again.
No, doubt is not good or healthy in your spiritual walk with God. Doubt is the exact opposite of faith; And without faith, it is impossible to please Him. Picking up a gun shows one's lack of faith in God unless God (Like in the Old Testament) told you specifically to attack such and such evil nation.

OK I see we are going back to the faith thing so ill state this again.

I am sorry, unless God has given you a written or spoken command (Which would run contrary to His Word for believers under the New Testament), then it isn't faith to kill an attacker but it is disobedience of the Lord's command to love your enemies.
Oh, and how exactly is you killing someone in self defense putting your salvation on the line?
I would think living by faith that God is your protector (Because He told us to love our enemies) and laying down your life for your faith in submission to God's will is more noble and good. For that is what Jesus did. He laid down His life to save us and we are to live by His example. No? Or do you follow another Jesus not shown in the Scriptures?
