Former editor of left-leaning website The Recount, Slade Sohmer, is charged on multiple counts of child pornography
The former (homosexual) editor-in-chief of the left-leaning news website The Recount has been charged with multiple counts of child pornography.
Slade Sohmer, 44, is accused of possessing and distributing hundreds of child abuse material, including images depicting the rape of a child who was around four years old.
The Otis, Massachusetts, resident was arrested on Friday at his home after police obtained a search warrant for his devices.
He was released on Monday on $100,000 bail after pleading not guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of dissemination of child pornography.
The journalist was ordered to have no access to the internet, engage in location notifications with a parole officer and avoid contact with minors.
Investigators said in court documents they found footage showing boys as young as four being raped and forced to perform oral sex acts by adults.
The probe reportedly started after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reportedly informed the Massachusetts State Policy Cyber Crime Unit that someone had shared a suspicious video on Snapchat in September, 2022.
Police say they then traced the IP address to Sohmer's home.

The Sound of Freedom got genuinely attacked by the Left... from the news media to freakin' theater employees. They defend child rape.
I didn't say any of that, I said people did not defend the Cuties movie like you are implying. Plus the left does not defend child trafficking or rape of minors. They criticized what they believed to be right propaganda. Whether you think its true or not its a different story. Making strawman arguments and generalization leads to tribalistic debates that go nowhere.
1. You do not speak for everyone on the left. There are those who can be described as being on the left that most definitely have been "running interference" for child trafficking and rape of minors. You obviously are either ignorant of what is going on, willfully closing your eyes to what is going on, or are also running interference.
2. "What they believed to be "right" propaganda" -- Oh, so if they "debunk" news stories concerning child trafficking and rape of minors that later turn out to be true they aren't defending them, because they "believed the story was propaganda and not truth". A journalist who "debunks" a news story about pedophilia and then is convicted of pedophilia can say whatever he wants, but no reasonable person would buy that story. He was lying when he "debunked" the story, the motive appears to be to defend the pedophiles of which he is one, and now he is lying when he says "he believed what he said was true". He is a pedophile, of course he knew the story about the pedophiles was true and his "debunking" was a lie and a coverup.

In addition to what ZNP said, I will say that by attacking what they perceived as RW propaganda -- and this movie in no way attacked political Leftism -- they inadvertently and/or deliberately defended child rape.
As for simplistically defining the culture war as tribalism, you show yourself to be thoroughly ignorant of what's going on. This is no longer merely about welfare policies vs. holding yourself by your own bootstraps. This has fully matured into a Marxist cultural revolution. The Left has forced the issue by going extreme, using the instruments of justice, media, and education to indoctrinate and punish its political opposition. The Chinese, Russian, Italian, German and Cuban people did not become "tribal" as you say, and they fell to brutal authoritarianism.
I cannot believe someone can call himself a believer and not be appalled by what they see the Left doing. This is no longer "liberal" vs "conservative". This is communo-fascism vs. liberty.
The US Air Force recently threatened its members to not attend a conservative rally lest it damage their careers. Who's being divisive?
President Vegetable Head, a.k.a. the great uniter, called half the country dangerous to democracy. Who's being tribal?
Douglass Mackey makes an anti-Clinton meme, gets thrown in jail for 7 months. Katie Wong does precisely the same thing, and doesn't even get charged.
There are too many examples of the Left attacking the Right in America, and in other western countries as well. I won't even start with Canada's or New Zealand's governments.
We're being fired upon, but keep telling yourself that we're just as bad, or that it's merely fireworks.
Ignore what they call themselves, judge the tree by its fruits.
The easiest way to judge a tree is by its fruit, if you are trained you can judge them by their leaves (works). Just because someone claims to be a Christian, that isn't proof.
When it comes to works:
1. Are they eating and drinking with the drunken and beating their fellow servants, or are they building the church and watching for the Lord's return.
If they are a constructive member of the church looking for the Lord's return, then
2. Do they have a daily walk with the Lord in their personal life filling their vessel with oil, or have they neglected that part of the Christian life?
If their vessel is filled with oil, then
3. Do they witness publicly the great things the Lord has done for them or do they keep that buried in the backyard?
Now even if they have these three things there are counterfeits. There are those who claim that Jesus Christ has not come in the flesh. The key point here is did He shed His blood to cleanse us from our sins? This is something that all Islam denies, all Judaism denies. So they can appear very devout members of their faith but they deny the work of Jesus Christ.
Then you have others who refuse to lift up Jesus Christ as Lord of all, God blessed forever. These ones want to make the church a political party, or have an agenda that is not aligned with being witnesses of Jesus resurrection and the gospel of salvation.
