Zerubbabel is like the symbolism of the righteous servant the Branch I showed in the OP who brings forth the words of God, just as Jesus Christ (The Word of God) is also called His servant the Branch who speaks the words of God and also builds the house of God. God's Word is the Stone that brings forth the Living waters, or brings forth the words of Life.
Just as we are told by Jesus that obeying his words and sayings is like building our houses upon a rock.
Matthew 7:24-25
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
[SUP]25 [/SUP]And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Symbolism doesn't work that way. In order to understand symbolic verses, we take the real and substitue it for the symbol. See the example below.
Zechariah 4:7 KJV
Who art thou, O great mountain (impassable object)? before Zerubbabel (Christ) thou shalt become a plain (passable): and he (Christ) shall bring forth the headstone (grave marker) thereof (impassible mountain) with shoutings, crying , Grace, grace unto it (grace given to the impassable mountain because it is now become a plain).
I know what the verse is hinting at so I can go even further.
Zechariah 4:7 KJV
Who art thou, O great mountain (obedience to the law)? before Zerubbabel (Christ) thou shalt become a plain (love your neighbor fufills the law): and he (Christ) shall bring forth the headstone (grave marker) thereof (obedience to the law) with shoutings, crying , Grace, grace unto it (grace has been given to the law).
Notice how the real was substitued for the symbol and the sentence still makes perfect sense and doesn't contradict itself e.g. this contradictory sentence that makes no sense - the righteousness of Christ brings forth Christ shouting grace is given to Christ.
Here we have an Old Testament prophecy of Jesus bringing grace to the law at his first coming.
