‘23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.’ (1Peter 1:23-25)

It is argued by those who deny the teaching of Biblical preservation that this merely represents the ideas and doctrine or the overall message of the gospel. This is an argument of what this passage means by “the word of God” In order to determine what the word of God is we must look in the word of God itself, In John 10:35 Jesus called the word of God “scripture”:

‘If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;’

This was a reference to the written word as can be seen from the phrase, “…Is it not written in your law…” in the previous verse, so according to Jesus the word of God is the written word and Peter said that the word of God “endureth for ever”. So then we have established that the written word is the eternally abiding word of God. Now what else does the word of God say about the word of God? Psalms 12:6 says:

‘The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.’

Notice it says words in the plural, this therefore means that they are all pure every single one of them. The idea of silver being purified seven times implies the total absence of impurities. This by necessity means a complete lack of errors. If the word of God by definition is the written word and has no impurities then there must be a book out there somewhere that has accurately transmitted Gods words without a single error. It is not difficult to compare Bible versions and find significant differences between them, including many missing verses and phrases in the modern versions. This issue is very important because the Bible teaches us that every word of God is important for our spiritual nourishment.

‘…man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.’ (Deuteronomy 8:3)

One of the rules of warfare is to cut off the enemies’ communication. The scriptures are God’s message to us and a threat to Satan. Since Satan has not been able to destroy Gods word he has attempted to "Jam our communications" by diluting the message with the modern versions. As a result modern Christianity as become significantly weakened morally and doctrinally which has giving Satan a foothold. It is important for Christians to have a strong undiluted Bible like the King James to govern their doctrine and moral practice. The word of God is a sword with which we fight Satan. It makes perfect sense that he would do whatever he can to weaken the power of our weaponry.
