The Bible does present the Ten Commandments as the covenant itself. In Exodus 34:28, it is written:

"So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments."

"So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone
(Deuteronomy 4:13, NKJV)

This clearly states that the Ten Commandments are the covenant. When we look at Jeremiah 31:31-33, we see God speaking of a new covenant, but notice what He says:

"Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.
But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

This passage does not say the law itself would change. Instead, it tells us that the ten commandments that are the covenant instead of being written on stone tablets, would be written in our hearts and minds. That means the law remains the same, but its place changes, from external tablets to internal conviction. This is why we see in the Gospels of John, Matthew, Luke and Mark, Jesus teaching the commandments and magnifying them.

Now, let's connect this with the Ark of the Covenant. In Deuteronomy 10:1-5, God commanded Moses to place the two tablets of the Ten Commandments inside the Ark:

"At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Hew for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to Me on the mountain, and make yourself an ark of wood... Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are, just as the Lord commanded me.’"

This shows the special place of the Ten Commandments, inside the Ark, symbolizing their central role in the covenant. But what about the rest of the law? In Deuteronomy 31:24-26, Moses wrote the book of the law and placed it beside the Ark:

"So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: ‘Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you.’”

This distinction is important. The Ten Commandments being described clearly as the Covenant were placed inside the Ark of the Covenant, showing their eternal, unchanging nature as the foundation of the covenant. The rest of the law was placed beside the Ark, acting as a witness.

Now, when Jeremiah speaks of the law being written in our hearts, he is speaking of the same law, the Ten Commandments. The "new" part of the covenant is not that the law changes but that God Himself ensures it is within us, guiding us from within rather than being an external set of rules. This aligns perfectly with how Jesus upheld and fulfilled the law, always pointing back to love for God and neighbor as the foundation of obedience (Matthew 22:36-40).

So, the New Covenant is not about replacing the Ten Commandments but about making them part of who we are.

Blessings
My friend it isn't Just the Ten Commandments. Jeremiah says the Law not just the Ten.

The first mentioning of the New Covenant was actually in Deut 29:1 in the land of Moab. The reason we know it is new is because it is mentioned as a covenant besides the one given in Horeb, Mt Sinia. That we should enter into covenant with the lord their God, into "HIS" oath. That HE may establish this day a people unto Himself Deut. 29:12,13.

The reason we can say "we" in respect to us entering into this covenant, into our Lord our God's oath is it says so in Deut. 29:14, 15. There God through Moses says, neither with JUST YOU do I make this Covenant and this oath. But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day. For the Lord our God will circumcise our heart and the hearts of our seed that we may live. That we obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments Deut30:6,8. Hearkening unto the voice of the Lord so that we can keep His Commandments, AND His Statutes written in the Book of the Law. For this commandment that we hearken unto the voice of the Lord is not far from us. But His Word is in our hearts and in our mouths that we do it. That is the faith in which we preach. For with the heart man believeth INTO righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Rom 10:6-8. For God has said, He will put His Law into our hearts and in our minds He will write them. And again He saith, I will give them My Spirit and cause them to walk in my Way.

What is nice about the wording in Deut. 30:10-14 is that the judgments, those statutes that dealt with when we sin are not mentioned.

You are unable to read plain text and understand it. You continue to read something that isn’t there. Instead of getting your belief out of scripture, you have inserted your belief into scripture.
Once again you are not answering the points made. You are just saying he is wrong and not showing as to why.

Wouldn't want you to ignore this @ATG

Heb 4:8
For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

The 7th day of rest was not a Sabbath in the beginning,

Yes it was, God sabbathed on the Seventh Day of creation. The word rest in Gen 2:2 in the KJV is translated from the Hebrew word which we get the word for Sabbath. It means to cease and is literally pronounced shabath. please take a look at the definitions provided below from the BDB lexicon. Please note how similar they are.

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

look at commentaries if you don't believe me then, from people who studied scripture all theie lives, perhaps you will believe them? this also means we have nothing more to discuss since we have opposite views but I wonder why.

if Paul was following Jesus and he was, then why would he say something different than Jesus who said to keep the commandments? it makes no sense at all
You’re the one saying Jesus and Paul disagreed. Jesus spoke to people under the law. You have to look at who is being addressed in a passage. He magnified the law to show the people under the law that they were all guilty and needed a savior. Do you really want to look at commentaries? Because I promise you and I can show you many that completely disagree with your view.

Once again you are not answering the points made. You are just saying he is wrong and not showing as to why.
You don’t answer points, you answer questions. No questions, no answers. I asked him a while back to show where gentiles were ever under the law and he never proved it, therefore he is wrong. He’s the one making the claim that we are under the law with no proof.

Please show where and who the sabbath command was given because there was no command given during creation. Also explain why there is zero record of anyone keeping the sabbath from Adam up to Moses.

What is the new covenant?
it is still the the ten commandments that Jesus asked us to keep

What did it replace?
jeremiah 31:31-33 explains the transformation of the Covenant from letters on stone to being put in out minds and heart through the Holy Spirit that is NOW available that was Not before.

What covenant used animal blood/sacrifice?
The old covenant, in the New covanant Jesus paid the penalty of sin for all who BELIEVE and ABIDE in him.

What covenant used the human blood sacrifce/human sacrifice?.
animal sacrifice the old covenant. GOD"S sacrifice of himself in human form for us, The New covenant!
If you think you're gonna enter heaven on your basis of how well you kept the ten commandments, they're not gonna let you in.
Anyone entering heaven, will do so, by the blood of Jesus.
There's not a questionnaire concerning the ten commandments

You have a completely totally different doctrine, than the Bible does.
The Bible is so simple.
The entire dilemma between God and man started with the fall of Adam.
The law came and actually made everything worse because man could not keep the law.
The priesthood with innocent animal blood, was necessary to cover sin.
Sin could not be purged completely because THE PRICE HAD NOT BEEN PAID.
JESUS IS THE PRICE PAID.
The law only pointed to the holiness of God. And SHOWCASED the sinfulness of man.
What you are doing is magnifying the law above Jesus and even above God himself.
Your misunderstanding for the remedy for Sin, is the basis of why you magnify the law.
You have become law centered, instead of Jesus centered.

The law is the testimony of God. It POINTS TO GODS PURPOSE AND CONTRASTS HIM AGAINST MAN.

GODS TESIMONY IS NOT GOD.
His testimony is a dynamic of his being.

The new covenant, is a PERSON, NOT A LIST OF DECREES.

IOW, When we get Jesus, we get a new heart to serve God. Not the flesh.
(The battle introduced.)
The law is in the background now, and has purpose.

But the LAW AS A GUIDE is REPLACED by the other LAW OF JESUS.

THE NEW COVENANT IS NOT, AND CAN NEVER BE, THE 10 COMMANDMENTS.

THE NEW COVENANT IS A PERSON...JESUS

Yes, it is true that we are saved by the blood of Jesus. Without Him, no one can be saved. But the mistake comes when you separates Jesus from obedience.

Jesus never taught that.

Listen to the highest authority, not opinions, but the words of Christ Himself as you should.

In John 14:15 (ASV), Jesus says:
“If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.”

This is simple. Love for Jesus is not just words. It is shown by keeping His commandments.

Again in John 14:21:
“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me.”

So how can someone say the commandments are no longer the guide, when Jesus says they are the proof of love?

He also says in Matthew 19:17:
“If thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.”

These are not my words. These are His words. He connects entering life with keeping the commandments.

Now about the idea that the law made things worse and has no place now. Jesus did not say that.

In Matthew 5:17–19 He says:
“Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil… Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven.”

So Jesus did not remove the commandments. He upheld them and warned against breaking them.

Now about the New Covenant.

It is true that the New Covenant brings a new heart. But what is written in that heart?

In Jeremiah 31:33:
“I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it.”

And again in Ezekiel 36:26–27:
“A new heart also will I give you… and I will cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.”

So the New Covenant is not the removal of God’s law. It is God putting His law inside you, so you can truly live it.

Now the claim that “Jesus is the covenant” is not what Scripture says.

Jesus Himself said in Luke 22:20:
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood.”

His blood establishes the covenant. He is the one who brings it, the mediator of it, but the covenant itself is the agreement: God writes His law in the heart, and His people obey Him.

So Jesus is not replacing the commandments. He is restoring them to their true place, inside the heart, lived in truth.

The real error in your post is this: it tries to put Jesus against the commandments. But Jesus never fights against His Father’s will.

He says in John 6:38:
“I am come down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”

And what is that will? That we turn from sin and obey.

Sin itself is breaking the law. If there is no law to follow, then there is no sin to repent from. That makes no sense.

So the truth is simple, like Jesus taught:

His blood saves you.
His Spirit changes you.
And your life shows it by obeying Him.

Anyone who removes obedience from the path is not making Jesus greater. They are ignoring what He clearly said.

Why would obedience be in question ?

Who thinks obedience is not part of Jesus or His teaching?

You can have an obedient wife and if she does nothing extra, she is a robot.

A good Hindu can be obedient.
A good watchtower adherent can be obedient.

So obedience should be THE RESULT of a love of God, not a replacement and all encompassing priority.

In a true walk in the spirit, Paul says to magnify the spirit and I WILL NOT fulfill the lust of the flesh.

IOW obedience is the "result of", not a mechanical list in my pocket.

You really do not see the 10 commandments are REPLACED??????

Leave me alone. We can't live up to the ten commandments. What did Jesus say what sums up the law. The first two greatest. You live by the law if you want. I'm under the new covenant of grace. Not to be abused though. When grace comes gratitude does for me and it makes repentance pleasant. Leave me alone.

I agree with the first 3 notations above, but the last is not accurate although I understand what you are saying.

Jesus fullfilled the law because no human can keep it as God requires. Thing is, the squawking on this thread by the SDA et al, will turn around and say that we believe we can sin now which is typical of the way they twist what is said and IMO, deliberately misunderstand what a person states who believes the actual gospel.

So, not trying to be a nitpicker, but fullfillment and dismissal are not the same thing.

17“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:17-20

For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:3-4

This is actually the point where the op of this thread becomes confused. He acknowedges what we read in Matthew but since he has little confidence in anything Paul wrote, he does not see how the law is fullfilled and instead says that Jesus died to help us obey the law which would be ridiculous and is a false statement.

The law was never meant to save anyone. It and all the sacrifices were only a shadow of what was to come. (as we know) Romans seems to be anathema to the op and the SDA . So while the op states he is not SDA, he agrees with the convoluted presentations of the SDA and the anger and hatred expressed through one in particular, who shall not be named. ( we all know)

Even though Jesus expressly stated His blood was the New Covenant, (Matthew 26:28) Paul was not at the last supper so the anti gospel crowd cannot use Paul as an excuse, twisted versions of comprehension regarding that statement are presented and worked up to conflate the old testament with the new. In fact, most references they use are OT. They just cannot get out of that covenant because they do not believe the reason for which God sent Jesus.

And really, I am sure you understand the concept.

Leave me alone. Go ahead start ceremonial cleansings, don't eat a pig, build a alter and sacrifice, purifications don't touch anything unclean all of that. Ok. For the last time. Leave me alone
