Amos 9:10—
All the sinners of my people will die by the sword, who say, ‘Evil won’t overtake nor meet us.’ In that day I will raise up the tent of David who is fallen and close up its breaches, and I will raise up its ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old, that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” says the LORD who does this.

The book of Psalms isn't only a collection of worship hymns, but it's also an account of a worldly-weak man's personal journey with God, one with many falls, doubts, clinging to hope and begging for mercy. A man whom Christ is the root and offspring of. David is among those who God made the world for, and David is of those who made his world for God.
The story of David is one that reveals sovergnty for executing righteous judgment (Israel was starting to fall away from God, so God used david to kill the wicked and turn Israel back to His faith):

2 Samuel 24:1—
Again the LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, “Go, count Israel and Judah.” The king said to Joab the captain of the army, who was with him, “Now go back and forth through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and count the people, that I may know the sum of the people.”

1 Chronicles 21:1—
Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to take a census of Israel. David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”

Nowadays you hear people obsessed with the 'right doctrines', 'original languages', 'saved by faith or works', and a lot of things that try to make the faith black & white, that a matter of arbitrary conditions must be met.
But you have to remember that before there were Bibles or even the writings of Moses, there were people who simply lived a faith to God that was well pleasing to Him.
And David confesses that the sacrifies of cattle and goats (in itself) is not pleasing to God, and that thanksgiving is the best a man can give in return for his life.

Nowadays you hear people obsessed with the 'right doctrines', 'original languages', 'saved by faith or works', and a lot of things that try to make the faith black & white, that a matter of arbitrary conditions must be met.

It occurred to me today that no one can, successfully, make a graven image of living water.
