Along the road he came,
A winding road,
wind and rain.
A Traveler,
. . . no name.

Valleys low,
mountains steep,
On he trudged,
he did not sleep.

A rocky path,
a narrow way,
Where he would go?
He could not say.

Days of blazing sun.
Nights, . . . icy cold.
A voice he heard inside:
'Be strong! . . . Be Bold!'

A light, a sign, an open door?
Some thing to make his calling sure.

On and on he walked,
. . . and talked,

To the One who knew the way,
Trying close beside to stay.

The way was hard, he did not rest.
He was sure he would be blessed.

And at the end he would see,
. . . the Traveler's Inn

And on the door a sign would be,
. . . "Please Come In !"

Along the road he came,
A winding road,
wind and rain.
A Traveler,
. . . no name I especially like your opening here! Excellent!

What is your poem about, I could see one finding the way to Jesus, it reminds of the verse that said Jesus had no place to rest his head also at the first....Knock and .....? Nicely penned!!

Thanks for the comments!

The poem is about the believer's (my) walk with the Lord along life's path. It speaks of the struggles and the loneliness, the ups and downs and the fears.... but it also speaks of the One who walks beside us, gently guiding, leading the way.

It talks about the search for one's true calling.... "Why am I here?"

And, most importantly, it focuses in on the journey's end.... "The Travelers Inn".... Heaven.

Jesus said: 1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” (John 14, ESV)

Ah. Thanks so much for answering! Heaven - The Traveler's Inn, very good ending too. I am so glad that we have the Lord in our lives. Blessings.
