The two callings: what will you choice? (Part 1)
First calling: the wisdom:
• “Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:” (Pro 9:1).
The wisdom, as the virtuous woman, builds her house (and not the home of the others – Prov 14:1). Her house is very well based, what implies in hear Jesus’ words and obey, even if she needs to do a deep effort:
• “Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.” (Luke 6:47,48).
Second calling: the foolish woman:
• “For she sitteth at the door of her house” (Pro 9:14).
Although the foolish woman also has her house, it isn’t a magnific construction and well founded. It is a house built anyway, hastily, only concerned about appearance, but without any safety. And this is because the foolish woman is given to pleasures (see Prov 7:16-18), And, as we well know:
• “He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.” (Pro 21:17).
The foolish woman is an idle and inactive, looking out for her prey. Have great pomp, but inside is hollow. She dally over sitting at the door of her house, instead of invest time praying and filling her innermost being with wisdom and knowledge which will be very useful to Jesus when He desire to save people that is around her.
So, have a good weekend building the seven pillars of the wisdom in your life. That is to say, no squander time! Fill yourself with all the wisdom that leads to good (Romans 16:19). Be rich toward Jesus (Luke 12:21).
