The two callings: what will you choice? (Part 7)
First calling: the Wisdom:
• “… To one lacking heart, she says to him, come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Forsake the foolish and live; and go in the way of understanding. For by Me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased. If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself; but if you scorn, you alone shall bear it.” (Pro 9:4-6,11,12).
Many people, in their foolishness, hate advices. They are used to saying that “if advice was good, it would be sold”. Nevertheless, advices can be precious and very expensive. Did you already see how many consulting firms exist? And what about doctors? When we go to their doctor’s office, how much money we spend to get a piece of advice?
Nonetheless, the Wisdom doesn’t charge anyone for Her advices. After all, the Wisdom has nothing to gain from our righteousness:
• “If you are righteous, what do you give Him? Or what does He receive from your hand?” (Job 35:7).
And the opposite is truth too:
• “If you sin, what do you do against Him? Or if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to Him” (Job 35:6).
If we are scorners, we won’t make any harm against Jesus, His people and Word. Take a look at this:
• “Some indeed even preach Christ because of envy and strife, and some also of good will. What then? Nevertheless, in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached. And I rejoice in this. Yet, also I will rejoice. For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,” (Philippians 1:15,18,19).
The problem isn’t what people intends against us or against Jesus’ Bride, but our stance before all this. We need to be conscious of Christ’s plan, bank on Him and abide by His will. In this case, we will never lose, although, for a short time, we can be quelled for divine permission:
• “And it was given to it to war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given to it over every tribe and tongue and nation.” (Rev 13:7).
Nonetheless, if this happens, it is for our purification:
• “And those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the sky; and those who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever.” (Dan 12:3).
So, even if the Holy Spirit leads you to the desert to be tried by Ha-Satan (as He did with Jesus – Matthew 4:1), don’t allow that, at no moment, pass in your mind that “stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” (as the foolish woman said). Remember that:
• “… obey is better than sacrifice! To listen is better than the fat of rams! For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idol-worship.” (1Sa 15:22,23).
After all, the Creator desires mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6).
