i have always been one to throw myself wholeheartedly (sometimes obsessively) into a hobby or activity when i am enjoying it. meaning, i will spend a great deal of time and energy learning all about it and attempting to master it.

misty77 and i were talking about how, through living, can become "scholars" (quite often unintentionally) on certain topics that are sometimes esoteric and often random. this is when we decided there needed to be a thread on this.

if educational degrees were handed out for experiential learning, what topics, hobbies, pastimes, and other random subjects could you apply for "educational" credit in?

it doesn't matter how silly, relevant, or crazy the subject is. in fact, the more random, the better!

1. what subject / knowledge would you qualify for a bachelors degree in?

2. what subject / knowledge would you qualify for a masters degree in?

3 what subject / knowledge would you qualify for a doctorate in?

Masters in Peaceful Living & Everybody Else Lies
Bachelors in the Joys of Rollerskating & Healthy Cooking
Minor in Lego & Singing in the Shower
Associates in Sighting Trolls & Catfishes :rolleyes:
 
Doctorate in Fatherhood shared with my mother, instead of a wife.
Masters in attempting to live decently, despite having my arms and legs tugged on by "leeches" (human type). Leeches are gone now Yay!
Associates in Life in Christ (a work in progress :D)
Minor in biting off more than I can chew with "projects" :p
 
Doctorate in compassionate listening and service to others
Masters in dance and outdoor fun
Bachelors in refusing to engage with fools
 
Moni, that sounds so much like me. I can easily obsess about something I'm interested in, and won't stop until I know everything possible about it, or else burn out completely and set it aside for years. Ha. I'm definitely a self-educator.


Doctorate in motherhood or just children in general

Masters in painting - faces, houses, paintings, whatever

Bachelors in rose propagation

Other obsessions I've researched and gone the distance with are costume making, dollhouse/miniatures building (project with the girls that I got carried away with), water gardening, homeschooling, and photography.

Doctorate in dealing with bad circumstances and emotional pain.

Masters in Compassion.

I have a graduate degree in brewing very thick coffee.

That one degree has pretty much saved all of my business projects.

Associate's degree in Sarcasm (specializing in knowing When, Where, and Who it is appropriate with)

Bachelor's degree, double majoring in Importance of Family/Friends and Compassion

Doctorate's Degree in Being Fascinated with God's Creation

I'm also pursuing a second Bachelor's degree in Patience, but that one takes some time. ;)

Doctorate in being a pet Mom and a sap for stray animals.

doctorate: passionate & joyful living, "life hacks" and figuring out how to accomplish things by yourself

masters: optimism, pep talks, encouraging and loving others (even the unlovely ones)

bachelors: cooking (especially french & rustic), cultured foods, healthy cooking

associates: boots & lipgloss (and many other girly pursuits too numerous to living)

minors in: calligraphy/pretty penmanship, human behavior & personalities, jucing, etymology, greenhouse & organic gardening, preserving, pilates, animal behavior and persuasion, sushi consumption
