I went for a walk today with my Father. And I skinned my knee. He knew that would happen! He knows everything! I should have asked Him. When He said "Let's go for a walk", I should have asked Him if I was going to get hurt. Then, I could have stayed home.
Where? It was down by that pond, where all the ducks live. We were feeding the ducks, and I went down the bank to get a better look. When I tried to climb back up the bank, I slipped and skinned my knee.
No, we didn't just go to the pond. We started out walking through a strange neighborhood. There was a big, loud dog in one of the yards there, and I was afraid that he was going to come after us. He didn't look very nice. But He said that there was an invisible fence, and that the dog wouldn't cross it. I couldn't see it, but He said it was there. And the dog stayed where he was.
I thought it looked like it might rain. I asked Him if it was going to rain, but He wouldn't tell me. He knew, of course, but all He told me was that He had brought an umbrella. I still wanted to know if it was going to rain, though.
We went down a side street that I hadn't been on before. We came to a shoe shop, and He told me I could pick out a new pair of shoes. For me! I hadn't realized how much the old shoes hurt my feet, until I took them off. But I guess He knew. The same way He knows everything. The same way He knew I would skin my knee. As we walked, we passed a trash can, and He threw away my old shoes. I thought I would miss them, but I didn't. The new ones just felt so much better.
I said I was hungry, so we stopped at a food stall. He bought my favorite kind of sandwich, but it still had the crusts on it. I took them off and was going to throw them away, but He said to save them for the ducks. He knows I don't like crusts. Just like He knew I would skin my knee.
As we got close to the pond, I saw some colored rocks in the path. I started gathering them up, and handing them to Him so that I could pick up more. He told me what kind of rocks they were, and how they had been formed, and what gave them those pretty colors. I learned a lot about the rocks, but also about how and why they were there.
Then we got to the pond, and that's where I skinned my knee. I couldn't believe it! How could He let that happen? I thought He cared about me! Why would He take me on a walk, JUST so I could get hurt?
