Thanks for that. It does seem that turning of things upside down is a common ploy of the father of lies. It does make the word of God without effect. Faith is a two way street. The work of Christ faith in us is directed towards us.Not of us. If we offer dead works as faith toward him then we can say we do crucify Christ over and over as if one one work of faith between him and the father was not enough .And dead works as a one time foundation must keep being offered.
Can you help to give a understanding of those first verses in Hebrews 6. It seems to set the work for understanding the chapter. It is usually not spoken of or expounded on .
It would seem that the works we do offer with our hands is considered dead. living faith comes from a living Spirit. We should offer them as a shadow or picture to the world but do not think we moved Him to both will and do the pleasure of another (self) .Its his faith that works mutually in us, towards us not of ourselves. .
Hebrews 6 King James Version (KJV)Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.And this will we do, if God permit.
Paul says faith works by love as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. So motive is important as to why we do what we do. The reason the law could not save is that it forced people to act as though they were loving under threat of death. Whereas the few born again loved going beyond what the law forbade. Notis Jesus taught that instead of not stealing (doing nothing) we give instead. Because love drives us to it. And instead of doing nothing by not killing our enemies, we love and bless them instead.
So I think Hebrews works the same way. Dead mandatory works we try to earn salvation by VS works motivated by love because of the New Birth.

God has chosen to operate His work from the basis of faith. "The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:2) is God's prescribed order of victory for the Believer over sin, the world, the flesh, and the Devil.
The Holy Spirit doesn't require much of us, but He does require one thing, and without reservation. Our Faith must be exclusively be in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross where the victory was won (the Blood of Jesus). No other way pleases God the Father, and no other way do we receive Grace (blessings).
We live by what Jesus Christ did by Grace through Faith Who loved us and gave Himself for us at the Cross of Calvary where the victory was won (Rom. 6:3-5, Philippians 1:21);
We live by:
His Obedience (Philippians 2:8, John 10:18),
His Faith (Gal. 2:20-21), and
His Love (Faith works by Love -Gal. 5:6).
It is not our obedience, not our faith, and not our love, that we live by. Rom. 8:2, Gal. 2:18
In other words, place and maintain your Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross (The Blood of Jesus) where the victory was won and receive all the benefits of this resurrection life (the help of the Holy Spirit). Romans 8:2

You can believe what you want. But ultimately it is Christ who saves and if someone suicides as a believer then ultimately God is still the deciding factor in Heaven or Hell. And regardless if it is a sin, it is sin like all sins. Jesus's blood covered all sins. Not to keep on sinning but even in our failures we find grace.
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Once the path of faith is abandoned, all the previous experience with the Lord is put on hold. Not only is there no advancement, but rather a regression!
We can know, and beyond the shadow of a doubt, if we will firmly anchor our Faith — it’s always by Faith — in Christ and His Substitutionary Work on the Cross. Then the Holy Spirit will be certain and sure to “guide us into all truth” (Jn. 16:13).”

Unless the Believer makes Christ and His Substitutionary Work on the Cross the Object of there Faith, which then gives them the help of the Holy Spirit, they are helpless against Satan, who will make them his captive, i.e., "in bondage to sin" [Gal.5:1]. To be "snared by the Devil," is serious indeed! 2 Timothy 2:26
If you ignore this, the works of the flesh will continue to manifest in your life. Let me repeat what I said on previous threads;
Paul tells us this in the 5th Chapter of Galatians. The entire Book of Galatians, but especially the 5th Chapter, is a warning from Paul to the Church at Galatia, which is also meant for us. The warning is that if they place their faith in anything except “Christ and Him Crucified,” that “Christ shall profit you nothing” (Gal. 5:2).
The Apostle goes on to say that if the Believer doesn’t adhere to the Way of the Spirit, which is the Way of the Cross, then works of the flesh will manifest themselves. He said:
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God” (Gal. 5:19-21).
Now let me say it again, because it is so very important:
If the Believer doesn’t understand the Cross of Christ, as it regards Sanctification, then, in some way, one or more of these “works of the flesh” are going to manifest themselves in his life. As stated, such is inevitable! The first four, “Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, and lasciviousness,” are obvious and easily understood. But the modern Christian quickly dismisses “idolatry, witchcraft, and heresies,” thinking they do not really apply today.

Let me repeat this because this is very, very, important! Paul said the person will be judge by his gospel! Which is the "Message of the Cross." Christ Crucified! Sorry but I disagree. One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the choice to choose. God wants us to willingly choose to love Him and to turn our lives over to Him. Yes He does shave power to force us to love Him but that is not what He has done. He has is allowed us to choose between Him or the world. that Satan who was able to choose to betray God??
Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Eze 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
Why didn't God stop Satan from falling??? Or a third of all of the angels from following after Satan??
Because it would be contradictory to who God is. He doesn't want to force us to love Him otherwise what is the point???
That is why some folks are saved and some folks are not saved. The decision to be saved or not to be save is controled by God and that is the choice of God to give us the control over whether or not we want to be save. He has also given us control over whether or not take our own life or to die when our appointed time is to die just as God has planed it.
God desires that all sinners be saved (1 Timothy 2:3-4; 2 Peter 3:9.
So if God wants all sinners to become saved,then why doesn't He force us to be saved???? Or what about a righteous man who turns away from his righteousness and begins to live a life of unrepented sin again???
Eze 3:20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
The word "iniquity" means "Lawlessness of God's law". Why would God just step back and allow any man to turn his back on God???

I'm not seeing what the disagreement is. I am a libertarian free will theologian myself. But I'm not seeing the connection between suicide as a sin. Somebody has to be quite mentally tore up to want to suicide. Last I checked mental illnesses are not sin same as disease. They of course may be the aftermath of a sinful choice but not a sin in their self.
I do not disagree on free will. I simply do not see suicide atleast in most cases as a sin if done out of mental illness. And if they was a Christian, I believe they will still see Heaven. Only scripture that speak on a unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. And that theologically is debatable on what that means too.

The very first passover there really was a plague and people really did die. The first born male. Actually the corona virus kills 80% men compared to 20% women. Mostly older men. So again we are following the patter of the first passover. We know that they were to put the blood on the doorpost of the house and today we all know that it is essential to have the blood of Jesus on the doorpost of our house to protect us and our family. This is for real and passover is not symbolic as it has been for the last 3,000 years. I think that Pentecost if going to be a very good time of revival and celebration when this virus has run it's course and is no longer afflicting people. So that as a nation we can return to work and leave our homes.
The fact of the matter is that we are simply powerless to do anything about this virus except for taking the precautions we have been instructed to take just as the Israelites did to protect themselves. However the passover by the angel of death was a one night stand and it was over by the morning of the next day.
This virus is ravaging Americans and folks around that world daily. This virus also fits into prophetic prophecy as a the beginning of sorrow's.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
There have been plagues and natural disasters in the past but never before have we had all the elements of Mat. 24:7-8 happening all at once with short intervals between them and so frequently as we have to day.
In my opinion there is only one way for a believer to look and feel about this virus. God is in control here and He has given us the steps we need to take to insure we do not suffer an eternal hell. If I don't catch the virus, Praise God for He protected me from it, If I do catch the virus and live Praise God for He got me through the sickness and if I catch the virus and die because of the sickness then Praise God because He gave me the opportunity to escape eternal hell and suffering and I took His hand. No matter what happens to me I am blessed by my God.
Being ready for our death is a free will choice. We either accept Christ as our Lord and Savior or we don't. No matter which way we have chosen to go we will all suffer the consequences of our choices. Be them good or bad.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
I think this is saying what you have said. That a believer knows they are blessed of God regardless of what their situation seems to be at the time.
What's the absolute worse thing that can happen? You get taken to Heaven? Doesn't seem so bad to me. Some people left behind will probably be sad because they don't fully understand but maybe they will in time...
Those who love God and are called according to His Purpose are in a win, win, win, win situation. Even if it may look like you are losing from an earthly standpoint. From a Heavenly standpoint you are not.
I'm sure the people who went through the black plague thought the world was ending too. Just saying.
