It would make no sense on God's part to command men to believe if men are not able to.
do we assume light could exist of it's own volition, because the Almighty said "let there be light" ?
can i walk out of my own grave by my own power? could Lazarus have risen up unless Christ had commanded him "come forth" ?
Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God
(Psalm 62:11)
mercy also is His.
we may resist His will, but be assured, if He calls us to act, He will also equip us, and if we think we do by our own strength, we will be corrected. it is not us, but God working in us to will and to work. no longer i, that it is a gift, and not a wage earned.
if it were any other way but this, we could boast - but there is only one thing we can boast of - that we have been known by Him, and He has shown us mercy!
