messed up. I ain't saying you guys are all dull in the heart, I just am so disappointed in the difference of the welcoming between a Mormon church, and a Christian church. I have been to many denominations, just to see what they were like and uh, just the other week I visited a Mormon's Youth Group and just.. wow! When I walked in there, yeah it was so weird hearing them sing all this religious stuff haha but friendliness in that church is amazing. Now the Christian Youth Groups that I've gone through in my life, are pathetic man.. just flat out 'I dont care about God, I just wanna see my bf/gf' .. it disappointed me deeply. I have seen awesome Christian Youth Groups that are suuuuper loving and kind and stuff, but man.. it was just sad to walk into a group of Mormon teens with overwhelming friendliness and kindness but to walk into a youth group of Christians feeling sooo left out. That just put a bigger urge in me to speak to teens out there! Gladly, the teens I've got to meet in here, are PHENOMENAL! God is sooo working through and around you guys!!! God bless<3

Yup, there are some Christians that aren&#8217;t really into the God thing. That&#8217;s why were changing in America were conforming to the cheep meanies out there! The church is becoming like the world! its scares me that we can be so much like the world we arent the Christians God wants us to be at all! he says to separate from the world not conform we have a higher calling, God! we need to start branching out in LOVE!!!! if were just like everyone else there&#8217;s nothing to make us attractive to ppl that really really want to seek God! i'm thankful i belong to a friendly church but i've been in LOTs of churches that maybe say hi maybe then just go off in there lil sects and talk to one another! they could care less about new ppl! its like they dont care about being witnesses but just want the friend thing! thats so sad!!!! youth group is not about making friends and once u have stick with them and who cares about everyone else!! its about bringing others to Christ and trying to get closer to him!!!
 
Well this is because most teens and people in general are, what I like to call, "Christians by Default".

This just means that:

if your parents are Christians (real Christians) then you're also a Christian (assumed because you're their child and you go to church with them)...

Or

if you don't follow God/Christ yet you believe in God/Christ (some people think this is all it takes to be a "Christian" and/or have salvation) or some other "higher power"...

Then you are a "Christian by Default."

Some people think that "everyone" is a supposed Christian until they state otherwise.

This, from what I observe and believe, is a contributor to the so-called "downfall" of Christianity.

Romans 10:9-13
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

But I think your situation have more to do with the heart of a person than with their spirituality (or lack thereof).
 
I have many Mormon friends. They are great. If it wasn't for how ludicrous some of their beliefs are, I'd have joined them long ago. They are so kind, even to those who mock them, like I used to. Sometimes I still ask them how they can believe it, but in the same sentence will commend them for their good behavior. They very much focus on strong families, that is why they are teetotals (prohibit alcohol entirely), ask the kids, and a lot of them will say they are glad their parents don't drink.


EDIT: While Mormonism doctrinally is wrong, in attitude I kind of wish at times Christians could be more like them. If Christians were, I would have no douts that I am doing the right thing. That's why I like some of the Southern Baptists I know.
 
I've definetely come across this type of thing with youth groups especially when I was in high school. Since college I've found a very different group of people who have a true love for God. As much as I struggled with high school youth groups and felt distant I now realize even though everyone there wasnt true christians and welcoming yet, I feel that it is a very good thing that they are coming to youth groups and it may take away from your experience in a way but they are hearing the message and God is working in them and hopefully someday God will get them to become true christians.

It feels like it Abby. Most of the people my age there seem to be in their own cliques or circles themselves, and that's just that all the way through Sunday mornings, as well as during Friday night youth groups.
 
There are fakers in most Church Groups and there are people who actually love God. Honestly, I dislike Church Groups:
1) They don't move at the same pace as me.
2) They NEVER follow a reasonable time schedule.
3) Most people in my age group only join cause their parents force them or they want popularity.
P.S. I always go to the adult service xD

maybe people at youth don't welcome new people because they're shy...?? I'm pretty shy, and it is soo akward meeting new people. I don't think it is always out of rudeness that youth don't welcome newcomers. I'm a leader at our school youth group, during lunchtimes, and we always start with an icebreaker game...everyone's really tight knit now. Its all about building relationships i think

You could say I've been contemplating it... I accepted an issue of Awake! magazine, which turned out to be a Jehovah's Witnesses publication, and I almost felt convinced to pay a visit to a JH church, just to see how I would go with it.

hmm well JH's dont believe the way that Christians do, ex. Jesus is not the highest Michel the archangel is.... i struggle with wanting to find different stuff just for more friends, but leaving my Christian faith all the time... people are all different so maybe just another Christian church would work. i have like 20 churches around me but i don’t know how it is with you. And okeay.

Jehovah's Witness aka Watchtower Society is a non-Christian cult. Stay away from it.

yes....but... dont go to a church that doesn’t believe the way you do! friendly people or not... God is most important (telling myself this too) just keep looking and i'm praying that you will find one... a very good one soon! :)

Lol, good advice that! I guess I feel that the support of other kids my age motivates my faith... but still true! ^^
